    Check out this short video of ROK SF doing some training it’s no joke. I can remember seeing the ROK Marines doing something similar in just workout shorts, barefoot and shirtless when there was 8in of snow on the ground and temp was 28 before the windchill.
    The winter over there is the coldest I’ve ever been in my life.

    It's pretty cold there. There's North Korean spies looking down into the bases, so everyone trains 30x harder to look badass for the spies. We would strip to short sleeve shirts and shorts and run around in the snow for PT. Also, we did PT with our ProMasks (gas mask) on.

    Yep. There's embedded ROK soldiers, called KATUSA, in American units and we did combined exercises with the ROK dudes.

    Been there in full PTs before. When I first got to the unit in December just had small pox vax we went on a 30 day field problem. I was miserable and got so sick they had me in quarantine in a tent for 2 weeks till I got better. Lost like 25lbs I’ll never forget how cold it was.

    Only when i could see them from the DMZ tour and defectors that we talked to I'm the civilian populace.

    I was stationed 40 miles (20 minutes) from the DMZ.

    I used to go to the random Buddhist monasteries (think kung fu), temples, hiking trails, historic sites, The Korean War Museum (I went there 5 times).
