ROFL I would have used a few colorful metaphors as well. I was lucky to get a dealer to change the parameters on a truck they already had in allocation. The changes pushed the build date back a week but saved me over a month in wait time. But it is annoying having dealers try to sell you something you've had a deposit on for a month. If my dealer tried to sell my truck for over MSRP to someone else I think I'd shoot him in the face.

 

For those ordering MT, are you doing it without test driving? I can't find any MT Tacomas with V6 to test drive...

 

You get to test drive it when it comes in. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Deposit is 100% refundable.

I got lucky and found one at local dealer and knew I had to test it. You won't be disappointed.

 

Interesting that certain regions don't allow you to "build" or order certain things. Didn't know that. As I was playing around with the configurator :

For example locally I can't build a SR Double Cab, 4x4 v6. Or I can't build a SR Double Cab 4x2, V6

All SR double cab here is 4x2 4Cyl.

But if I do a country wide search, Alabama and NC both allow the other different options.



Currently if I can see the price of the TRD PRO 6 MT, that is what I would like to order.

Just write it in the contract. Nobody is going to expect you to buy a vehicle without a full inspection. It's unlikely that it will last 24 hours on the lot if you don't buy it, so there's very minimal risk to the seller.

 

You just need to find a dealer that wants to modify one in allocation. Have you tried one of the larger dealers like longo?

 

Just ordered mine today. Should be built mid May and hopefully delivered in early June.

I asked for invoice and the sales manager said. "OK". A little too easy. He also took off the D&H fees. I guess the battle isn't over until I've signed the paper when it arrives.

After negotiating an otd price b4 sales tax about 10 weeks ago when i ordered
DCLB TRD-OR white with tow and nothing else (mats, flaps, anything)...truck finally arrives today and at the last minute salesman says "invoice prices must have went up a bit" & tried to jack price $300.
I reminded him we already negotiated on price and i think he knew i was not going to play that game. He came back to agreed price but just drew the process out longer. 73 miles on it and im very pleased so far. Best of luck to those still waiting!

You are getting 950 under invoice? I doubt it. Better get that in writing quickly. The dealer has already paid that D&H fee to Toyota so they aren't just dropping the price. It's a loss for them not to get it back.

This also shows that the invoice pricing is nowhere near what the dealers are actually paying for the truck

No - I'm getting the truck at invoice plus $900 delivery. But I know that hes not going to let that go when the truck comes in... I'm sure he'll want to make it back somehow.

 

Test drove an auto. There were no manuals in any configuration in town to try in Northern Ohio. I'd have to go to PA or WV to find one.

I got my DCOR LB with tech and towing 1 week ago today . The last 6 numbers of the vin are 008xxx . This shows only 8000 some DC Offroads in long box have been made up to and including mine built on 4-16-2016 in mexico ? My first # is a 3 for mexico .

 

I have only tried Frontier (horrible), Bob Smith (horrible), and Hamer.

Finding a truck has been bad enough, that I am contemplating just taking a 2016 Tundra Double Cab, 8 feet bed, for $30,000.
