After months of anticipation on the release, several weeks lurking on TW, and 3 weeks of discussion with 11 different dealers, I placed a deposit on "my" 16 Tacoma.

DCSB 4X4 TRD Sport A/T, Silver Sky Metallic, Premium & Tech w/JBL, Tow Package, Tonneau, Mudguards, Exhaust Tip, Floor Mats & Door Sills

    Invoice + $757 Tax + 238 TTL

In Allocation status, build date of 10/8

What does your dealer say when you ask for a build date? At this point you are certainly entitled to at least that much information. Of course, those of us that have build dates might just be being led around by the nose. Maybe your dealer is just being more realistic.

Ordered OR Access Cab, MGM, no options, in late August. Build date supposedly 9/30. Was told to expect delivery 6-8 weeks from order date. Have received no updates regarding delivery. Location: northern Virginia

I posted it on another thread somewhere. It was something along the lines of it wasn't accepted yet even but none have been yet from my region.

A part of me wants to call shenanigans on them but on the other hand no dealerships even have a truck yet and not one other person on here has said they got a build date for a DCLB off-road in the northeast.

I've heard there are issues with some of the options in my build. Who knows?:notsure:

Well, good luck--I hope you hear something concrete soon. Like you, I'm just hoping mine arrives before the snow.

well projected build dates are just that. until you get an actual build date, the plant can shift that around a lot which throws off the rest of the timelines. good example, my original build date was 9-15, actual was 9-23. good part was it only took 6 days to get from mexico to Kansas city port.

Talked to my salesman today. Build date went back to the original date of 10/21. They had bumped it up to 10/14, but that didn't last.

Dealer thought they had a TRD 4X4 Sport Silver loaded $39,760 arriving in couple weeks - they put a sold on it for me - never shipped to Houston from factory - now this truck is 8 weeks out to dealer - maybe. Decided if it was that far away from- (time) delivery - ordered same TRD 4X4 but Red and added Tonneau Cover plus mud flaps. Placed order Monday asked about it today - Factory totally backed up - Toyota is adding another shift -( hiring lots of new workers of course they have to be trained - who knows when additional shift will be operational) - so 8 weeks is probably optimistic - be lucky to reach dealer mid December. Probably take the original silver 4X4 Sport if red model order is a month later. Two weeks from now if no news on date and this going on 10 to 12 weeks - will get on internet and drive my toyota truck to a dealer who has 4X4 Sport loaded which most cost about slightly above $40,000 sticker

Hello all.....brand new member here and popping my cherry on the misery loves company thread lol.

So yea my story goes like this. Was interested in purchasing my first truck and about a year ago started to look into the tacoma. Noted that the resell value was fairly ridiculous (outside looking in mentality) and then quickly decided that saving my denarios and waiting to buy new was a better option. I had no idea that a new 2016 Tacoma was arriving literally until toyota announced it in Detroit. After PAINFULLY waiting all summer I'm sitting here now in early fall motivated to buy. Today my little Civic got rear ended and I'm just thinking thank god that wasn't a new truck but I'm still pretty bitter considering my sell value just took a hit. As a Canadian I'm just kicking back not knowing how much they are going to cost, or even when they will be released. It's making me a little mental but I know it'll all be worth it.

Well yea thats my sob story but i actually have a legitimate question.

would walking into a dealership not knowing cost, release, or even delivery date motivated to buy be a good idea? Will i need to place a preorder? These beauties can't be all snatched up within a week of arriving at a dealer..or can they??

well did some digging to find out rail transport routes out of Kansas city regional port and this is what I found.

based on this map these are the rail lines serviced by Kansas city regional port.

    http://www.acwr.com/economic-development/rail-maps/kansas-city-southern

to get to ND, the farthest point on this rail system is Omaha NE, which means it shouldn't take 13 days by rail before it gets to a transport truck.

based on this info, I can cut proabably the timeframe in 1/2 or more which means I could possibly see the truck at the dealer as early as next week instead of 2 weeks from today.

if the truck came by rail from Tijuana Baja Mexico in 6 days to Kansas city at 2x the distance, I can deduce that it should only take about 3 days to get to Omaha for transfer to truck transport.

My wait is over. Ordered my Inferno DC 4x4OR on September 10th and my salesman leveraged his relationships and pulled off an awesome allocation swap. My truck was delivered to the dealership last a Friday but I was out of town. Picked my truck up on Tuesday and love it!

Got an email from my dealer this morning saying 'good news, truck will be in by the end of the month'. He said the system told him the 20th, but figure on the end of the month. Was expecting Dec delivery, but we will see. It is supposed to be a gift for my Dec. grad school graduation. I told my wife I could park it until then ... lol.

I am sure that they need time to put lots of dealer installed high margin stuff on them in addition to the regional mark up to make sure the 32k truck retails for 50k...
