Just ordered a TRD OR 4x4 DblCab (w/JBL tech package, tow package, grey ext./black int., & mudguards) on 9/29. Dealer called this morning and said the order was accepted and that the delivery date should be 1st week of Dec. at latest, so roughly 8 weeks. Paid invoice + the dealer fee, which I was happy with. This is my first Tacoma, only test drove a '16 SR5 Dbl Cab that another dealer had on the lot. It was pretty nice, but the tech package adds a lot more to it. I expect the TRD OR ride will be a touch more harsh, but hoping it isn't too different.

Been waiting a month since order...seems like a year LOL... But as long as the truck is not here I have something to look forward to.....at least that is what I am telling myself. With my luck the truck will come in without the JBL FP package...Then I will wait for the Spring when I will actually need a truck again ooooorrr Look at 4 Runners GAsP!!.

I was originally told that my AC TRD Sport 6spd would be built 10/12. For some reason, it now looks like I'll have to wait 8-12 weeks unless I want to spend an additional $1500 for the Premium Tech package. I can't see myself using anything in the PT package, so I guess I'll wait it out. The good thing is that now I'll have more time to unload my leased 2015 Canyon before the Taco arrives.

I'm actually really impressed with my Canyon. Its a fully loaded SLT CCLB. But...the Tacoma I test drove was so great that I lost all common sense and ordered one. Your Colorado was more of a basic model if I recall from previous posts, right?

Is it just me or does this launch seem kinda botched? I mean I used to work for a seat super for Nissan and every new launch they would ramp up production and stock prior to the release date. Therefore you have much more inventory. This is the slowest launch I have ever seen. Just waiting.

They may be taking it slow, so that if any problems arise they can take take of it before there are too many out on the road.

The Canyon rides more like a car instead of a truck. The GM Intellilink touchscreen/navigation is far better than Toyota's Entune. Gas mileage is a bit better on the Canyon than what's advertised for the Taco (mine gets 24-25 hwy with the 305hp V6). The GM interior is geared more toward luxury, while the Taco is more sporty. The Canyon is definitely more of a street truck. The Taco feels a little more solidly built, but not by the margin you might expect. If I had any sense at all, I'd just hold onto the Canyon until the lease is up before buying a Taco, but apparently I don't have any sense. I can sell the Canyon for $4K more than the lease payoff, so I won't be taking too much of a hit getting out of it. The availability of a manual trans/V6 on the Taco was a huge selling point, as was the resale value and expected reliability. I'm going to be driving at least 12,000 miles a year now, and I don't trust a GM product to be reliable past the warranty.

Not much different from the redesigned MIata ND launch....same issues same threads same problems with waiting........Patience is the key. When we finally get our trucks we will have them a long time.

I just got a call from the dealership. They did an allocation swap or something with another dealer and my truck is being built tomorrow! On Monday they told me 8-12 weeks, so this is a big surprise. Not sure when it will arrive, but its going to be soon.

My Red 4X4 Sport DCSB was ordered on 28th September - nothing from Toyota on a build date / not even showing in system yet! - taking 3 to 4 weeks before an orders pops up and shows it is even in system. Some trucks that showed up in system in mid August and were original Tacoma's to be shipped in September to individual dealers are now 8 weeks till build dates. I know because I tried to buy a silver 4x4 DCSB Sport - got my lease 2014 ready to turn in - then told that truck was on hold and then told 8 weeks (maybe) - so gave up on that and ordered the red. Toyota ought to cancel the 2017 Tacoma - by the time they catch up it will be August. I have been trying to buy a Tacoma since first week of September - still do not have a truck that even shows up in system much less a build date. 1600 dealers to supply - most have nothing or little to sell and I have called them. If I offered them $1K above sticker - have nothing remotely close to what I want and or much of anything to sell me.

I spent a couple of weeks looking around, talked to three dealers and one pointed me to a fourth dealer (three states involved). The fourth dealer had one rcoming in my second color choice (red) and the rest (4x4 DCSB Sport manual trans) that I wanted. This was great news so I should have it within a week. Its been snowing up high around here all day, so it will soon be slick-road season.
I am quite surprised by how few of these I've seen so far, and most of them have sunroofs and automatics, which were deal-breakers for me.

I have to admit I'm contemplating a '16. I really like my '12 double-cab long bed, but I'm leaning toward trading it in for a '12 dbl cab sport. I don't particularly like the new color choices, so it either grey, silver or tan. One thing I'd like to know is if Toyota increased the rear legroom any? That is the most disappointing thing about my '12 is the lack of legroom in the back.
