I told my salesman the same thing today when I ordered mine. Told him I don't really give a sh*t how long it takes. I am getting what I want and not settling for what they have in inventory. 2 months or 4, either way it won;t bother me as I am not in dire need of a new vehicle.

 

I ordered my Inferno DC OR 4x4 Tech package (w/o JBL), tow package and tonneau on Friday, December 4th. I was told it would take 8-10 weeks. I was just notified today by the sales manager that my Tacoma is scheduled to be built on February 11th and then sent on a vessel to LA Port.

 

I was on the phone with my dealer for about 30 min. convincing them that I should be able to get the black/orange interior because I have seen a dozen different ones on here. Finally they said that " it looks like that is possible. we'll get that going for you." why was that so difficult? lol. Whatever, I got what I ordered.

 

I ordered an Inferno DCLB TRD OR 4x4. I matched it with the black/ orange interior, but my dealer said that i could only get the graphite/ gunmetal interior on a TRD OR. Anyway, I got that resolved today.

 

Just over 24 hours from build date, or so I'm told. Come-on big blue baby! Daddy's got presents waiting.

 

Just got the call from the dealership. My Tacoma was being unloaded as we spoke on the phone.
37 day delivery time. I made arrangements to pick it up Saturday, the rest of today and Friday is going to drag.

 

Wahoo, My black SR5 DCSB 4x4 is in the USA, SanDiego on Rail line. Getting excited.

 

And after 12 weeks she is finally here. Thanks to all who have posted to let me know I was not the only one waiting. I hope the ones still waiting have a speedy delivery.

Been a BUSY last 2 days!!

Found almost a twin to my custom order (except for the bed and tires) on cars.com 4 states away.
Ditched my local dealer and my Toyota order (not dealing with any more wait and no allocation!)
Carmaxed my Jeep last night, purchased a flight, and sitting at the airport now.

I will be in MY ride later today!!

Supposed to hear about possible allocation tomorrow. If I don't get one, I'm expressing my serious concern to the dealer, and starting an all out search. Though I don't have high hopes of finding what I'm looking for. DCLB OR (quicksand).

 

It's kind of a pain, but you need to contact dealers to see what allocations they have incoming already. It won't be listed on their site, but I found that the internet sales people are very helpful with this.

I also wasn't getting an allocation as quick as I'd like and when I reached out to other places to see what was incoming, one with my build had been allocated for late FEB and no one had their name to it yet, so I grabbed that one. I was hoping for one on the lot, but that's so hard to come by in the exact specs.

 

Hey thanks. Do you mean internet sales people from certain dealer websites? Would they be the same sales guys if I go into a dealership, but they're willing to deal more if you're looking on internet? I think I don't understand the "ordering/allocation" process fully. Starting to think they are completely separate things. If I order something, they might put it in, but since there are always allocations coming along, they are searching those to fill my order also? So by asking multiple dealers, I am spreading a larger net? And the internet sales guys (whoever they are) are better at snagging allocations quicker?

 

my Canadian dealer says no VIN before it's in there yard... so no way of me of estimating build date...either things are different here or they just do not want to give me the info...
