Well since I had one system completely replaced and upgraded to the tune of $12k and the other tuned up, with a duct modification, etc., your odds of seeing this are not favorable. Albeit not impossible. In fact, I think there may be an improbability drive installed somewhere on the property that I have yet to discover.
Agreed---ish. I've been researching powerline/wifi extender setups. I put in a Netgear set with great success at my dad's house recently to better accommodate everyone's needs to take care of him during chemo and generally for a slight improvement to family sanity. However, still battling the issue of how these things are touted, versus how they are sold (usually a "starter kit" with a sending unit and receiving unit). You can start with the origin adapter hardwired to the router, the receiver adapters, up to say 6, can be installed elsewhere where needed in problem areas. The procurement problem is that every starter kit comes with only this pair, and then finding the additional end port/wifi adapters is a bitch because in general, they are not sold separately, or are of different spec. Hello, Netgear, don't you want my money? And guess what, I don't want boxes half full of unneeded, unused sending units. Just provide an "Additional receiving units that deliver the intended outcome we use to sell this shit in the first place kit." WTF. It's a PITA. But I hope to have drones landing with equipment soon.

The bottom line is that we all want is killer wifi in two places: the shitter, and the garage.

More likely the previous owners had an SEP field installed around all the house mechanicals.

I think you may have just conceptually nailed the shit out of that. But your scope is too limited with just mechanicals.

I see a glimmer of the old Silver Tongued Suit ... could it be there's hope for a return to glory for the old, barely tolerable Dick we all loved and miss?

If you can run cable, just get a few Ubiquiti APs and run the router in bridge mode. Did that last year and it's a better signal and haven't had any drops.

Those look pretty cool, but the reason I'm focused on powerline is because the house layout it a PITA for wireless in general, let alone for hardwiring, and if you'll notice the status of my build, I have jack shit for time for hardwiring ethernet. Plus, my FIL handed me a Linksys EA8500 MIMO router for free. I can send a powerline from our gateway router to an outlet in a central location for most of the house (especially family room with TV), and I can sit the Linksys on top of a high cabinet there connected to the receiver's ethernet port, that should nuke a lot of real estate with a great wifi signal. I think the problem spots will remain in our master bedroom (and shitter) the garage, and the guest bedroom (the cave on the bottom split level near the garage) so if I just got three more compatible powerline receivers for each of those areas, and assuming they get good signals over the copper, I'd be done with this.
