OK so here are the other pics that didn't upload last night.

This is where to lay in the foam seal.

And this is where it gets interesting. If you just install the Twat Waffle onto the foam as is, it will create wavy ridges and valleys in the foam seal, thereby greatly diminishing the dust barrier, and also creating a lot of resistance on install. So...

First lay the Twat Waffle onto the foam without engaging the clips. Align it carefully front and back, and then press down, again, not engaging the clips. Now quickly pull it off, and you will have strong but short-lived impressions in the foam from the Twat Waffle grid. This is where I created relief incisions with a little kaizen knife to accept the Twat Waffle ridges and allow the foam to better fill the void above. I cut about 3/4 of the way through. Then, standing on the ground outside the truck, lay the Twat Waffle back over the rail, align it, and peering under the edge, you can slowly and gently work with a blunt instrument like an auto panel tool to nudge the foam back and around the clips before doing a final push down and clip engagement. It worked really well. I wanted to take a pic of that poking process, but I only have 2 hands, not 4.

Well done on the seal, and good write up. . Angle supports look great. Love those things. I recently used a hack saw to remove the center tiedown eyelet. It was in my way. Then painted. Looks great and can't tell.:D

So, what was the shelf life on those brackets? Did they exceed their 'Best before' date?

No, 18 months is the recommended dry aging duration.

They don't work with the concave bottom edges of the fiberglass shells.

Huh. I've never seen or heard of this. Maybe I'm too much of a 2nd gen noob. But all caps are molded for OEM fit are they not?

@DoorDing actually now that I think about it, the Leer has a definite difference in the front wall profile, which dips down to seal better between the two raised side bed caps, if that makes sense. I was specifically looking at this out of concern for an adequate seal across there.

If I'm not mistaken both ARE and Leer supply a "donkey dick" seal to fill the idiotic void that the oh so brilliant Toyota Engineers designed into the forward end of the bed.

Well that's what I thought too before I got a look up close. On my old XQ, the fiberglass came right down so much, in fact, that it heavily rubbed on and abraded the top area of my front wall cleat rail for several inches along one area.
