Aw shit, the cops found it.

    Sigh.

So I've been communicating with Dustin at FN wheels regarding some details on the Konig Countersteers. Just communicating with this guys makes you want to do business with him. In response to every question, which is always quick, he always goes above and beyond.

My first question some time ago was to provide pics of the anthracite versus graphite Countersteers.

    Some pics he provided:
Graphite on left, anthracite on right. First shots in sun

    Then in shade

    A few more pics here:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/media/users/jdmef9sir2.35758/

Then I asked for specific on how the fit and mount up, hardware, etc. I had heard bits and pieces from various posters that were just not clear or complete enough, so I wanted to hear it from the vendor:

The 16x8" Konig Countersteer Offroad wheels are a direct fit on your 2015 Tacoma 6-lug (PreRunner / 4x4). We have been selling this wheel for the Tacoma for many years, and the wheels have never required an adapter.

You might have read that the wheels come with push-thru center caps which center the wheels on Tacoma hubs, and also included with the wheels (when ordered from us) are hub centric rings, which take the place of the center caps and work to center the wheels on the Tacoma's hubs. These are not adapters though. The wheels also require a different style of lug nut (which we also include at no charge). The wheels just bolt right up to your hubs and fit perfectly when installed using the supplied hardware.

    Further clarification about lug type:

The lug nuts are not particularly special so to speak, but they are different from your OEM lug nuts. The OE lug nuts have a shank that goes into the wheel and a flat washer. This is called a mag-shank or E.T. style lug nut. Our wheels are drilled with conical seats that have 60 degree tapers, and as such they take 60 degree tapered lug nuts. The lug nuts that I include a spline drive, small diameter lug nuts which use a special spline socket key (which is also included).

We prefer to use small diameter spline lug nuts because they fit better in the lug journals of our wheels, and as a result there is less risk to scratching the lug journals / spokes. The spline socket is a 19mm or 3/4" hex drive, so you will need to keep a 19mm or 3/4" adapter or wrench w/ socket in your truck in case you get a flat. You'll also want to keep 6pcs of the original factory lug nuts just in case you need to put the spare on the truck, since the factory spare uses the factory lug nuts.

After all this, I am leaning toward black because of my door handles and mirrors, and other potential upgrades that would probably also be black, like a rear bumper and roof racks.

I couldn't tell through the Death Valley dust. Still looking into tires. I'd really like to get the Michelins, but they are E load rated in 265/75-16, and I'm concerned about what the DD ride quality will be like. I suppose a Michelin E could ride better than another brand's E, but still, a crapload of money for an experiment. Hypoxic said he loves them, but he's got a ton more junk hanging on his rig.

Well that a very impressive looking tire, but also seems it would be impressively loud. I have heard the Cooper AT3s begin quiet, but get louder with wear. That's the other tire I've been considering.

Hmmm ... I like the anthracite better for some reason. Seems to compliment and bring together the color of the truck with the black trim bits. But you're right, not a good rattle can coverup color (colour -- for DD ;)).

Just sayin I have the St Maxx's on my truck 285/75r16 and they do hum when you have the windows down but you cant really here them on the highway, even with the 1st gen's unsoundproof, if that's a word, so in a '15 2nd gen you will never here them. Great tire, smooth, great on the trails and street, also a very tough tire with the ArmorTek3, taken it through some knarly rocky trails.

Not a bro, not getting anything spelled MAXX. Also not getting any tires with little pictures of barbed wire on them.
