Used to own a Hodaka Combat Wombat loved that bike. The truck is tan with a big nose just like a Wombat. It was destined to happen this way me thinks.

Got most of the fab work done on my sliders today. There will be a full length outer tube and mounts will be built for the ends of the main rectangular tube. Both of those mounts will attach to the body mount stands. Got to get some time on the plazma table for them. More fab and tube work to come.

 

Great idea on the skateboard grips!

 

Yeah they work great just watch the backs of your legs when you have shorts on.

I saw the grips and immediately thought of their usefulness on my sliders.

 

Out of order update...

Got my Prinsu cab rack, sent it to powder coat locally (cheaper) and installed it with a 40" light bar.

 

Just a quick update. Tube work done on drivers slider. Still have to build the front and rear mounting points.

 

have you checked out sdhq's sliders? some good ideas for front and rear mounting points. if you were making them to sell i wouldn't bring it up but since they're for your own use probably can't hurt to consider it.

 

I have looked at all of them but I like what I have come up with better. Thank you for the suggestion though. I may well sell a few sets of these in the future but not publicly.

 

Ok had to cut my garage time short today to take the wife to town grocery shopping and to dinner but got my sliders about 90% completed. Small bit of fabrication still to do and I am going to try to get that tomorrow.

Please ignore my crappy saw horses they are crooked, they wobble, there is nothing square about them, they suck but I'm a welder not a carpenter and I hate working with wood lol... the rectangular tube under my sliders is actually my unfinished fab table frame work. You know what they say... A plumbers pipes always leak.

you need to sell that! been waiting on another member to release his bed rail caps so that i can get my bed rack made.

 

These are hand cut but I may go ahead and draw up the cad files for them.

 

do they extend past the body a little? The vendor making the other ones has it ending before the edge so it looks nice but doesn't offer any protection.

 

These are going to follow the conture of the plastic cap but hang out about 1/8". So no protection to speak of out of them. Planning on a set of removable bars that clamp on to take care of that duty. Using clamps like these.

 

I'm very interested in seeing how this turns out.
