I'd been wanting a truck for several years and the Tacoma was always near the top of the list. Finally realized that I didn't really need a full sized truck and it wouldn't fit well in my garage anyways. I've loved the Tacomas since high school and finally decided to pull the trigger and get one. I never intended to get a 4x4 but my friends busted my balls long enough (it's not a truck unless it's 4x4 blah blah blah) that I finally took their advice.....thank God. I've had it for just over two years now and couldn't be happier with it! Taken it off-road several times with friends, members I met on this forum, and have been very impressed with it. I plan on taking some longer trips this upcoming spring and summer so good times ahead....leaving for an off-road park near Hot Springs on Friday with about 10 other forum members and I can't wait to hit the trails.

782,000 miles and the only non maintenance item was a water pump at 125k on the 2008 Camry. I wasn't going to buy any other brand.

Bought mine cause my dealer said to.

Ask your dealer if it is right for you.

Grandpa had an 02 Tacoma that my pops now owns, great truck, can't beat the resale and reliability. I've owned an 89 Corolla 5 speed manual and a 89 Corolla All-Trak 5 speed manual, lol the station wagon looking thing with push button 4WD, it was fun as hell in the snow!

After getting a good 10 years and many hours of work in on a 96 Nissan Maxima (great car), I decided on the Tacoma for its reliability, reputation, fit and finish, resale, etc. I wanted to buy something I could drive til it dies and after looking at everything from a new engine/trans for the Nissan to high teens/low $20k price range I just couldn't settle on pre-owned or another car. So I pulled the trigger on a 17 Tacoma Off-road 6 speed manual. Sure its got its minor annoyances but the benefits and joy I get out of driving it and having some space to work under the hood more than make up for them. Beats the hell out of putting out alternator fires (so far hah) and swapping out a starter in my work parking lot at -23 degrees out!

Came across a lil' cash windfall and got me a dreamboat of a vehicle! We've had some great times with the Taco out in National Forests, I got my hands on a pop up camper since I can tow it now, can haul bikes and all kinds of goodies. I look forward to many more adventures with Beefus in the years to come!

A sticker I saw on TacomaWorld here sums it up:
"Your's can go faster, but mine can go anywhere."

When my Tacoma got hit 3-months in (another story) they gave me a 2017 Frontier as a loaner, similar specs.. I know EXACTLY what you mean, it just felt cheaper, more plasticy (not that the Tacoma isn't also plastic, it just felt "less plastic") and I hated the ride. LOL, let a co-worker with a 2015 Frontier drive my Tacoma, and a month later he traded his Frontier in for a Tacoma :)

    Thread over.

Whether it's bone stock with 3 miles on it or lifted with 35's and covered in scratches.

And guaranteed to put a smile on your face now and then.

Had a 1989 Toyota pickup, had to part ways with it. Really missed it, but I have to admit, I really like my 2018 DCLB a lot better!

Well, March of 2017 something told me it would be a good idea to trade me 04 Tundra TRD Access Cab in for a 2017 Ford Fusion Sport (if you dont know what the Fusion sport is its AWD with the 2.7 v6 TT with some suspension goodies). After two months I started having issues and buyers remorse. A year and a half later 6 trips into the dealer for various Warranty claims I decided to bite the bullet and look into Tacomas and Colorados. Learned the 2.8L Dmax was having issues so decided a Taco. I test drove a 2019 Tacoma Sport M6 and a 2018 TRD OR Auto. Decided I was gonna hold off until the beginning of 2019.

Well, then I started having issues with the front CV Axles on the Fusion. After Ford finally got the axles in (they were back ordered, good sign I know) they replaced them. The next week I found a 2014 Spruce Mica TRD OR with 40k miles. Test drove it and I loved it. Looked at the carfax and it had a sketchy history. By this point the sales manager stepped in and asked where I needed to be price wise. After some negotiations I got myself into a 2019 TRD OR that was a demo car. I've been perfectly happy since. We now have two Toyotas in the Driveway, my Taco and my Fiances 2016 Corolla S. We love them both!

I went with mine because I wanted a pickup that I didn't have to worry about. Of all the cars I've owned (and it's been a lot) the Toyotas (07 Lexus IS350, 13 Taco, 14 4Runner and now 18 Taco) were by far the most worry free. You change the oil, rotate the tires, and they just kind of keep plugging along. They're not always the sexiest vehicles from a tech or comfort standpoint, but they're just trouble free and you always feel like you can count on them. That feeling is valuable to me.

I bought my tacoma because my 2011 Ford F150 Eco Boost was giving me problems. My uncle's love their Gen 2 Tacomas were told they kept their value. Also, I wanted a 4X4, and was disappointed that the Ford didn't have it.

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
My last 10 or 12 Tacomas' and Tundras' and old R-22's were super .. with very flew problems .... I MISS THAT DRIVER'S DOOR GRAB HANDLE THO.

Had 2 Fords ... 2 Chevys ... 1 Titan ... 2 Frontiers ... 1 Honda ..... and Toyota makes the best overall truck IMO. (Loved the Ridgeline, but it was too car like for me).

Subarus and Hondas and Toyotas are the very best IMO.

Had an F150 and an Accord. Still needed a pickup as I own rental property but didn’t see the need for keeping 2 vehicles and I didn’t want to daily a full-size.

It was a 2008 and I sold it to a friend who absolutely loves it.
I actually drove it this past Wednesday. 10 years old with 156k and it still feels like a new car.

i bought my tacoma because after owning a 1994, 1998, and 2008 honda civic throughout my whole driving career, all being lowered and on stiff suspension, i was done with all the back pain, angling up driveways, speedbumps, dips, and train tracks. i'm also 31 years old now and i don't care to race every civic that pulls up to me. :taco: it was about time to get out of that scene and onto better things!
