Was without a truck for years, tired of borrowing the neighbors to haul anything. Did my research, Toyota came out on top, bought my 15 a little over a year ago, love it.

Loved my 2wd first gen I had ten years ago and always wanted another Toyota truck. Never had a 4wd but always wanted one so I could go anywhere and not have to worry about getting stuck in sand or not making it up a hill.

I was looking for a new vehicle to replace my wifes 2007 Mazda 6 that just bent a valve, and was not worth fixing ($1800 repair on a car not worth 2500).. I was looking online for a week or so.. and decided to take a sick day and go look at the dealerships.. I had every intention of looking at a Jeep wrangler 4door.. I drove a 2012 4x4 in PR, and loved it as a rental car. but after looking at pricing, Fuel economy ratings, and hearing a bunch of bad rap.. I started looking at just about anything with AWD/4x4.. my car was a 2013 mazda CX-5 AWD it drives like a subaru, and gets an average of 27MPG.. I HAVE TO HAVE A 4WD vehicle to get to work at any time of day or night, snow, sleet, ice whatever... (Corrections officer). the CX-5 served me well, but didnt deal with deep stuff too well.. not to mention in the winter time I like to help people get out of ditches when i can.. I looked at fullsized pickups, and just could'nt justify a $35-50k truck with a v6/v8 that I just dont need in my DD.. I wanted a v6, and found my tacoma online I looked at the chevy ZR2 diesel, but couldnt believe the pricetag.. 42k... only other option was a dodge rebel 5.7 for $31k, but I didnt like the interior, or the exterior look.. I took the taco for a test drive off the curb of the dealer front lot, and I liked the way it felt, the seating is like that of a car, and shift on the fly 4wd, as well as the offroad capabilities, as well as the decent fuel mileage I was hooked.. still havent seen close to 24MPG EVER.... typically 20MPG highway (70MPH speed llimits), and around 17-18MPG average.. the wife agree'd to take my well cared for and paid off CX-5, she didnt have much choice.. I pay all the bills. sucky part is having a car payment again... but I love the truck..

Because the ZR2 only comes in a short bed and Toyota has a ton off aftermarket support.

Similar reasons to everyone else, this was my rank order:

    1. Manual transmission in loaded model
    2. Reliability
    3. Resale

Bought my 2018 because my 2016 got totaled. Got my 2016 because I wanted a midsized truck or a Jeep Wrangler, but went for the reliability/on road comfort factor.

Owned a new 15 JKU and had it torn apart at 10k collapsed lifter and worn cam lobes.. never fixed it correctly. Traded it in on an f250 long bed. I wanted more space for camping and towing. Realized it was too big, and then I bought my 16 Tacoma. My first truck was an 01 Tacoma 4x4 SR5 with 230k on it and sold it with 273k. The Tacoma has better power than the Jeep and is a truck. It rides way smoother and goes exactly where the Jeep went. Mine came with a cap too which is nice when I want it. Sure it has a few issues but every auto manufacture does these days. Overall I love it, longest rig I have kept in 3 years, and I plan on keeping it.

    1) Wanted a midsize truck - the Tacoma is midsized
    2) Fuel economy - my Tacoma lives up to that expectation, I get excellent gas mileage
    3) Reliability / Low Cost of Ownership - too new to determine

Had a 2018 Ram 1500 Rebel. Lots of fancy things and push button adjustable air suspension. Longer i had it the more i realized there would be a lot of expensive repairs down the road once things started to fail (which usually tends to happen right outside of the warranty). Also found a full size a little bigger than what i need these days so traded it in for my '16 Sport...didnt really need to get another new vehicle. Much more content and will be more so once the aftermarket additions start.
