I got really lucky they didnt get away with my little 98 "sparky" taco

I looked at some older form threads about replacing the ignition key cylinder and it seems pretty straight forward ( i have had alot of practice with the old 2000 Ranger that has had multiple theft attempts in the last 6 years)

I think the main difference is unlike the Ranger the toyota wont go at all into the ACC position it wont turn period.. I even tried a freshly cut key ( cut in 2019) and unused. I tried tapping on the end of the key while and twisting the steering wheel.. no luck

I might try again this afternoon .. or probably better to wait until I have the replacement ignition cylinder ready to go.

is it necessary to disconnect the battery?
is there anything else I need to be on the look out for?

I will do the door lock cylinder another day I can still unlock the passanger door and access. first things first I need a vechile to get to medical appts.

    thanks team !
