Interesting! Sarah might get one in the fj after all. URD has a kit that works with her 2007 too... options!

This isn't the first time I've heard this about the Magnuson produced supercharger being re-released.

First I've heard though about the price increasing... wasn't the TRD version already kind of a crazy high price for the power delivered? I'm hoping they mean higher than old retail, not higher than the stuff we saw just before it was discontinued... $6,000 without install (but with a fit-kit) is getting outrageous.

higher retail price....TRD was selling their S/C without much of a write up...magnuson doesn't have the option to cut their prices down that much...

they are working through the tuning issues now, and we should hopefully see them on the market around year end or slightly after...

Well guys, I was right. 265s, 4.56s, and a supercharger make for a peppy truck. :burnrubber:

I put the Alpine in the dash last night/this morning! In usual Toyota style, the dash pieces come out very easily to make swapping the stereo a breeze. Unfortunately the hazard light switch was a royal pain and took 80% of my install time.

I was missing a wiring harness for the steering wheel controls (bought this thing used remember) and Alpine didn't answer my email asking if I could buy just the harness instead of the whole kit. Today I ordered the Axxess aftermarket steering wheel control adapter that had decent reviews on here as well as the 70-8114 wiring harness for it. Point of this story: no steering controls yet, but coming soon.

I also found out I had ordered the wrong USB plug adapter. Metra has the AX-TOYUSB (that I bought recently for this install) and apparently one with a slightly different connector, the AX-TOYUSB-2. I ordered the right one today so I hope to have the USB plug working again soon too. I have learned that the AX-TOYUSB works on "most 2012+ Toyotas" but only 2013+ Tacos.

Edit: Oh, having bluetooth back is awesome. That was my reasoning for replacing the stock head unit in the first place. The GPS antenna seems to work fine inside the dash too.

Follow up to the stereo install now that I have received everything for full factory integration. This will be a generic post for most aftermarket heads units. (not specific to my Alpine INE-Z928HD)

Parts I used for factory integration in my 2012. (From what I can tell, 2013+ will need different wiring harnesses, but they are available):
-Metra ASWC-1 for steering wheel controls
-Metra 70-8114 steering wheel wiring harness and aux input jack
-Metra TOY-USB-2 for USB plug (2013+ needs TOY-USB without the -2)
    -Generic USB extension cable

Metra has made this super easy to do! The 70-8114 requires you to attach it to the switched +12V (red) and ground (black) from the main stereo wiring harness and everything else is ready to go. It plugs into the ASWC-1, the OEM steering wheel control harness, and the back of your aftermarket head unit using a 3.5mm jack for the steering wheel controls and red and white RCA's for the auxiliary input (3.5mm headphone jack by the factory USB plug).

The toughest part was figuring out where the USB adapter went. If you remove the glovebox, there is a "multimedia panel" to the right of the cabin air filter with a bunch of connectors going into it. Find the brown one (only one that looks at all like it will fit in the TOY-USB-2), unplug, and instead connect to your USB adapter (pic below). The adapter cable isn't long enough to reach the USB port on the back of your new aftermarket stereo, so you'll have to use a generic USB extension cable. Run the USB cable through the dash to the stereo and plug it in.

Button everything up and you're good to go. The ASWC-1 automatically detects which vehicle it's in - no programming necessary. You now have an awesome aftermarket stereo with full use of your USB plug, aux input jack, and steering wheel controls.

Pic of stereo (I was actually on the middle of the river. GPS is correct):

I have been trying to figure out how to change the splash screen on my INE-928HD as well. The default Alpine logo doesn't do it for me. I found a how to on a porsche forum with the following steps, but my stereo seems to hang on the "please wait" screen. I'll post an update if I figure it out. If anyone has the same stereo, let me know if it works for you.

How to change splash screen image:
1)Get a picture you like, resize to 800x480 and save as a BMP with file name apn_pa_opening.bmp
2)Put that file on a USB stick and plug it into your trucks USB port (turn stereo on)
3)Go to the FM radio screen and hold the "band" touch screen button for at least 2 seconds
4)Press the nav/audio split screen button
    5)Press phone hard button
    6)Press volume down hard button
7)"Please wait" comes up on the screen, stereo reboots and new splash screen should be there.

I just resaved my image file in paint instead of using a file converter and the steps above worked perfectly. It seems the head unit is just very picky about the file.

Christmas finally came! My mom got me a 60" hi lift xtreme. I just got it today due to some online shopping mishaps. Amazon was pretty darn good to deal with though. Now to figure out mounting the sucker.

My gf and I also got some cool camping gear for Christmas on actual Christmas. A new propane stove and a set of light weight pots and pans that fit together super efficiently.

Nice! I have a hi lift extreme and I welded some grade 8 1/2" bolts into my bedrack and have it mounted on the side like so. Just an idea for ya.

I like it. Do you lock it up? I guess a cable lock could tie it to the bed rack pretty easy

Just a little cable lock around the bed rack, it'll keep honest thieves honest but that's about it.

I actually drilled a couple holes in the ends of the bolts and have a small master lock on each bolt end. Like @ckeene9 said, it'll keep honest thieves honest. I mean if someone reeeeaaallly wants it, they could take it. But that's the same with a lot of light bars and stuff too. But a cable lock would totally work too!

Can I ask you about your roof rack? I want to do that exact thing to my DCSB and I see you said it's custom. Any chance you can send me some pictures how it's all fastened to the truck?

I have been looking for sometime now for something like that. Looks like I might have to build it myself.

    Thanks in advance.

Sure! The rack isn't custom, just the mounts for the 50" light bar I used to have.

I can take some pictures tomorrow but it's pretty simple. The double cabs have threaded holes in the roof from the factory (5 per side I believe). They're under the weather stripping, taped over. The prinsu rack utilizes those holes and mounts right up. It's a great product and the price was pretty reasonable too.

You can Google prinsu or search on here for more info. Zach (owner) has a good website and he is pretty active on TW too.

I love the Prinsu roof rack. I just can't stomach paying the exchange rate right now. Adds 30% or more right now. I might have to wait until the exchange rate gets a little better.
