Like most of you, I was puzzled as to why Toyota would end the era of the 2.7L 5 speed MT, however after reading a 2018 Toyota product guide posted by another member on this forum, I took these screen shots..the product guide was just updated on November 2nd, 2017.
20171111_100158.jpg 20171111_100241.jpg Now I don't want to give false hope, but if I'm reading correctly, looks like they got rid of the 5 speed and replaced it with a 6 speed????

A six speed with the four cylinder?

I think the idea is that the 5 speed manual is paired correctly and is an oldie but goodie.

It will be interesting to see if one can get an 4 cylinder Access cab with a utility package and a six speed manual. Just seems like an odd pairing and it seems like the product information sheet changes every week.

That ratio chart is the old 5 speed ratio chart with the 6th gear blank relabeled with the 6-speed heading. Hopefully Toyota will have the 2.7 paired with the 6 speed trans. I was thinking mine could use one more gear when at highway speeds as I'm running 2200rpms ~75mph.

If it was going to be paired with the 6 speed transmission that slot should have some numbers in it. I'm skeptical still.

I guess maybe we'll have an answer in the next three or four weeks.

As of right now, you can't even build a 2018 on Toyota's web page. Me thinks they still have a glut of 2017's to try and sell.

Also, with the V6 it doesn't show a 6 MT for the TRD Sport. Just the TRD OR and the PRO. What the heck is that all about?

When I was getting my 10,000 mile Toyota Care oil change, a sales person I was talking to mentioned that the 4 cylinder engine wasn't going to be offered for 2018. I was surprised to hear him say this. He then double checked a document he had. He must have meant that the 4 cylinder 5 speed manual will not be made.

Just goes to show these documents can be misleading.

    it's a 5 speed MT

You must take REVERSE gear into account

    1-2-3-4-5-R...There easy peasy lemon squeezy...

Are you thinking the 5 speed MT has not been discontinued then?

I've had a couple dealers search for the 7513 and they say it can't be found for 2018. Maybe it's just to early to know........

OMG, the 6 speed is actually a 7 speed? I've been doing it wrong. So, do you shift R123... or 345R? :burnrubber:

I wish that is the case in Canada. We can only get the manual in the sport.
The off road are auto only.
This has prevented me ever actually ordering a Tacoma despite wanting one for years. I hate a lot of the stuff on the sport, but refuse to buy an automatic.

I never thought that all manuals would be discontinued, but I though they were only available at higher trim packages. SR and SR5 need not apply for a MT, and all that. Are you saying there might be a 2018 SR or SR5 with a manual? Sorry, this is all very confusing.

It's confusing because each 2018 product release information sheet is slightly different from Toyota.

It's going to be a surprise I think.

I think I could get a little better mileage on flat ground with lower rpms. Maybe 1500ish?

Seems to be a new release of different information each week though.

I think the most recent release shows a 4x4 with a 6 speed MT.
