Thermometer issues

So I've recently noticed that my temp gauge isn't reading correctly. Don't direct me to the temp gauge/compass fix thread here.. The display is working but the gauge isn't easing right. I'm at least 5-7* high no matter what.

I thought maybe the problem was it reading hot cuz of the engine heat somehow so I built a bracket for it tonight to hold it further away (toward the front bumper) but that didn't seem to affect it at all..

It is dirty right now from the last time I went wheelin and tomorrow im gonna clean it off to see if that helps.. Other than that, any ideas? Anyone else had this issue?

 

I've been noticing the exact same thing. I don't have any help for you, but you are not the only one. I thought about taking it back and having a new one put in under warranty.

 

Same issue here on my 2010 but min seems to read 7-10 degrees colder than ambient temps. Gotta be the sensor...keep us updated on what the dealer says...

 

^x2 on the dealer.... I'm thinking about swapping in my brothers sense his console isn't working and testing it that way

I see you've got a brand new truck. Yours is always off or just when you first get in? Mine reads high when I first get in after the truck has been sitting in the sun but cools off to normal temps once I start driving. That's normal behavior in my opinion. Not much you can do about that.

 

It's high when I get in, but starts to drop some as I drive. I have a 42 mile commute to work, so it has plenty of time to get to the normal temp. Today it settled in at 6 degrees above outside temp. I checked it via multiple bank signs and my weather app on my phone.

 

My new truck is very high 5 degrees more and takes about 10 minutes too read proper my Jeep is only off a degree at any time.

 

Mine also start high and cools off as I'd expect from bein in the sun or sittin next to a hot engine but it never cools down to where it should, always about 5-7* high..

 

Did anybody ever get a fix for this? My wife's Acura is spot on. My Tacoma, not so much.
