IMO we're in a roaring 20's level of nonsense and some people will be sleeping in these things

No doubt about that! My neighbor dropped $250,000 in ONE day.

New Ram. Camper. 4 wheel Sand Toy.

Everybody here is doing refi + heloc = toys. People say the economy is bad - not if you look around. Houses going 50-100K over asking. Selling in hours.

what's even worse is thats in USA bucks! haha! Just taking advantage of new buyers, once they get the bug for mods and start looking at the forums then they realize how bad they were taken.

A simple customer boycott of this dealer would teach them a lesson. The power of the forum.

Construction had been busy in my area - never slowed down, guys are working solid. If your in the entertainment/food business then things are different.

You kid, but I know you are serious. I'm thinking that with the vast amount of RTTs in the publics hands. There will be homless encampments full of previously owned RTTs.

What's concerning is restaurants and entertainment have been effectively closed in CA for months and yet people are spending like this will blow over like a summer storm. My sister still lives in La Quinta and said she's never seen it this dead the snowbird season never really materialized. The amount of buildings for lease and closed places i've been told is insane.

Construction is nuts. I was talking to a contractor building in my neighborhood and he said to get trusses for a home is out to July right now. You can't get a crew on your project for several. months out right now. Food and Entertainment has slowed down, but many of those people aren't your demographic for a $40K-$60K truck.

Dealerships sometimes do that if the truck doesn’t sell quickly. They think that modifying it will make it more appealing but it actually just screws the price up to some unreasonable number.

I have to admit I fell into this trap myself. I was looking to buy a cement 20 offroad in November of 19. Had a hard time finding one in stock. I went to Toyota of Carlsbad and they had only one in stock. It came with trd blackout kit, door edge guards, Karr alarm, bed mat, OEM roof rack, Nfab nerf bars, KO2 E 33" tires mounted on KMC XD Bully 17” wheels, lifted with Procomp 3” Spacer lift kit (which did include alignment & speedo calibration). I didn't know anything about trucks at that point, but fell in love with it on the spot. I paid nearly $6,000 for those options. Did I get taken? Yea but its the market I'm in, and it was the only choice at the time.

Now that I've been on Tacomaworld for the last year, I have learned a TON and definitely would do things differently if I had to do it over again.

The thing that really sucks is I'm upgrading to an Accutune stage 4 Fox kit, and scrapping that spacer lift kit that I overpaid for. :(

I guess its all relative. I live near La Quinta and I, along with every other realtor I've talked to had their best year ever in 2020. Weird dichotomy in that some businesses like restaurants & mom & pops are getting killed, and other businesses booming like nobody's business. The housing market is on fire here. Lots of people relocating from LA/OC, even San Fran. Last night we went out to eat, all the restaurants were at capacity with outdoor dining. God only knows what the future will bring, but things are humming along at the moment.

Coming soon: Compact powered sub install Future mods planned: bigger tires (265/75/16) BILLSTIEN 5100 lift
They picked one of the best colors, nice wheels and tires too. Shame the lift is over priced and makes the poor truck look like it's squatting to take a dump.
We have Jeep and Dodge dealerships that do this crap and price it way too much.

All I know is you couldn't pay me to live there now. I moved out of the lower desert in 2001 and the last time I visited i felt like a needed a shower because of how down-hill its gone. The increase in housing prices and people relocating hasn't brought enough prosperity to fill up all the vacant commercial buildings. The River might as well be called the wash now, since it's mostly vacant.

There are people who will go for it as long as they can roll it into the monthly payment....."I don't car how much it costs, I just want to know what my payment is going to be!"

Well it depends on where you go just like everywhere else. Go to Coachella, east Indio, cat city, desert hot springs, and other lower priced areas yea its a bit ghetto. La Quinta, palm desert, rancho mirage are all still nice.

I hate CA more than anyone but our family business is too good to walk away from at the moment. The nice thing about here is that there is plenty of desert for offroading, shooting, hunting. My brother lives in Tustin, which is really nice, but always comments on how envious he is about the shooting opportunities compared to what he has.
