Then boom head shot, one loses their job, breaks a leg at Glamis, gets divorced, sleeps with the mother in-law and it's all over. The next thing you know you're having to sneak around the mother in-laws 55 and older condo under the guise of a care giver as the repo man is looking for the Tacoma. The mother in-law had nicer hips anyways

LoL I was fully expecting that or something on my 5k service visit Saturday. They listed it at $49.99 on price board but didn't try to sell me anything.
Still $50!! I can get the stp filter at walmart for $11 or fram for $15 and do it in five minutes.

There are buyers that won't even read the sticker. They just point at it and say "Ill take it if you can agree to under 550 per month."

Yeah, Im a badass negotiator. One of the best.

I wish I was better at haggling but I honestly don't have the patience to do it.
I do my research and ask for a fair deal if We don't agree I go somewhere else. I won't haggle for an hour. I won't play the payment game on the 4square either. I mostly walk away when they only want to talk payment after I try to divert them off that line.

I'm glad I was able to get my truck by just emailing dealers what I wanted. Telling them my time frame, that i had a down payment and pre approved loan just give me a competitive price.

The dealership I went with sent me the sales sheet with all the fees and taxes upfront. No crap to get to a fair deal. No bs when I picked it up pay sign and drive home.

I like the crumple up the four square paper and throw it away, then just ask for the price repeatedly until they cave. I already know what I’m willing to pay (including tax, title, license, doc fees) before I walked in the door, so it’s just a matter of getting them to that number or I walk. The best way to negotiate for cars is to leave emotion out of it, always be ready to walk away empty handed. You can always find another deal on another truck somewhere else.

Saw a dude on the Raptor forum last summer who spent $91K (plus taxes and fees) for a $72K truck with coil spacers, 37” tires, and Methods. $9K for the “lift” and $10K in dealer markup. The dealer even chopped the shit out of his fender wells to clear the tires. They got him for another $12K in extended warranty and factory maintenance plan that can be bought for $5K. A sucker born every minute.

Yep, right there with you. I simply tell them they can include whatever they want; DOC Fees, Nitrogen in the tires, paint sealant, whatever.....just tell me what the bottom line, all-in number is and I will say "Yes" or "No".

Yeah but I say no to the nitrogen, and all that low cost high profit building stuff. If they won't take it off or drop the selling price of that junk to closer to the actual cost I walk out.
Local toyota dealership in town likes to add $199 nitro, $149 door edge guards, and $99 for the door cup films. They don't like to go lower than msrp and try to not haggle on anything.

I tried to offer $10 a tire for nitrogen and $75 for the rest which is all it's worth. They thought i was joking. You can do most of those items yourself for even less if you wanted and air is 78% nitrogen so you don't need it.

My point really was, that much like it sounds with you, I do research and decide what I feel is a reasonable selling price for the vehicle. If the dealer simply has to include a DOC Fee, etc, I say fine, just include EVERYTHING in the OTD number you give me and I will give you an immediate answer. There is a local Toyota dealer that is notorious for listing attractive prices on search engine websites and when you contact them, they say Destination, DOC Fee, Nitrogen, ETC is not included in the advertised price, which adds-back $2-$3K, depending on the vehicle. I've had dealers send me what they called "Out the Door" cost and then tell me, "Oh, that didn't include our DOC Fee.".........I negotiate contracts for a living and still find dealing with car dealers the most frustrating transaction there is.

Yep the out the door price is what I want to see most. And it makes more sense to me. I feel like when they Only deal in payments thats a way to hide junk they need you to buy far more than you want.

Hiding fees like that feels dishonest too. Usually it's in the ad hidden deep in fine print at the bottom where no one reads.

It would be kind of fun to post the sales manager's phone number and have 100 people call him.

    "I must have it now!"
"I've got someone else on their way to buy it now."
    "Oh build me another one!"

The same shit was said right before the housing market blew up over a decade ago. I knew of a lot of people that were busy as hell up until they weren't.
