Never had an issue with my KO2’s. Maybe they just need to wear more :confused::confused:

PDX resident here too. I drive 26 every day from Hillsboro to SE Portland and back for work. I have noticed that the first rain after a dry spell, they do like to get squirrelly. Once the rains have settled in, I usually have no issues other than the giant freaking ruts coming up the hill (Sylvan) and just after Cedar Hills blvd. I do have to try to straddle those. But to be fair, my previous rig hated those two. I have the E rated 265/70/16 on a 2018 DCSB OR. I do run them around 35 psi on all four, but may try adjusting after reading some of the above posts.

This AM it was raining like crazy. Pouring. Got pretty wet the few feet behind my shop over to my truck. Drove my 12 mile commute in. Driving rain. Puddles
Not many on the road so I pushed it. Never once did the truck slip or slide. Even gunned it from a couple lights. Yet I read and believe the OP and others. And people like me.

So why??? Batch issues (rubber compound?) - place of manufacture? Wear?

Weird, how new are they? I got mine in 2018 and they been slick since I can remember, but have definitely gotten worse.

I ran KO2s in NJ and they were garbage, 2 different trucks, I love the fanboys always chiming in these threads claiming they're perfect, lots of cheaper better options out there.

Not a fan boy. You are calling me a liar and I don't appreciate it. There is no one here claiming the tires are perfect.. Why even add that?

I did not call you a liar nor single you out so you can stop making assumptions, if you take the time to read you'll see multiple people in here defending KO2s...and pretty sure OP was asking for opinions on tires I gave mine.

True you didn't call me a liar in particular. You called anyone expressing their opinions a fan boy and repeat yourself with the choice of the word "defending". We are expressing our opinion. Period. Not a defense. Not a fan boy. An opinion no better or worse than your own.

When OP and others here state they have had bad experiences with said tire and ask for other options and then others chime in to say otherwise that is exactly the definition of defending an opinion, and there is nothing wrong with being a fanboy I'm a fanboy of Tacomas, Dirtbikes, the Cubs. Don't take it personally. And yes opinions and experiences will vary widely.

I'm not a fanboy, but I do like the KO2s. But 2 weekends ago it was a light mist and the roads were wet. I spun the rear tires unintentionally from a couple of stop lights and thought to myself "maybe this is what people complain about on the KO2s". Then I merged from the ramp onto the freeway and when my truck kicked to 3rd gear around 45mph to get up to speed, the tires broke loose and trac control cut power. Super weird... 50 miles or so later, I exited the freeway and when coming off of the ramp on the curve the rear end started sliding around. At that point, I actually got a bit concerned as to what the hell is going on. I run 32psi front and 28psi rear in 265/70-17 load range C tires. I have about 18 k miles on them and the tread looks great.

I'm running 315/75's and run 40 front 35 rear but will be going to your pressure asap with colder weather setting in here in Michigan. I typically keep about 300lbs of tube sand in the rear December - March too.

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
I have a leer canopy so that does add a couple hundred pounds year round for me.
At 35 front and 30 rear I still get good mpg, around 17 or 18 combined.
Good luck this winter! You guys get some good dumps of snow!
It rains here in BC, never had an issue with hydro planing. I think some people are blaming the tires when in fact it's them driving like a dumbass.

When it comes down to it, the extreme low end torque the 3.5 produces will turn any tire into a buttery slick danger on the wet roadways. Everybody just leave off the torque producing ECT button and drive safe. It’s not about the tires.

Good point...the tire might actually be spinning in the rim.
OP have you considered bead locks??

You definitely don't want to run KO2s in Oregon. Stick with Defender LTX, you'll thank me later.

My buddy hydroplaned and totalled his 3rd gen w/ KO2s. I've been very close to doing the same w/ my KO2s (This is in SoCal "rain" too). I'll never put another set on my truck. I have Nitto Ridge Grapplers on now and we've only had 1 day of rain but i can already tell they're a lot better. Off-road I've also noticed better traction (not slipping at all up steep slopes on fire roads in 2wd).

Love the Cooper's input on my Xterra. Great in the snow and rain. Best tire I have had on the X. And I've had bfg at's, km2's, Micky Thompson, and finally these Cooper's. Cooper's have been the best on and off road. And doing a 5 wheel rotation, I'm 20k miles into these tires and they are wearing great. The km2's I had seemed to be a softer compound and didn't last as long as I thought they should have. They were a good tire, but the Cooper's take the cake for me.
