BFG KO2's are not great in wet conditions. Tirerack has some good videos comaring tire on there website. It's nice to look at actual data and a better frame of reference when compareing tires in the exact same conditions.

I read all these reviews about how ko2s are trash in the rain. Yet the most common tire I see on the road is ko2s. Doesn’t make any sense.

You are correct. The tires in no way "suck". Makes no sense. Watch the video, I think it does point out something. Tire are fine in the wet, above average - but like most "knobbies" - break away in very wet on hard smooth surfaces can be interesting. I think most good drivers know this intuitively and don't attempt slot car cornering in the rain, on the road, in a pick-up truck.

As you can see from my previous post I said the KO2's are not great. I did not say they were trash. The OP said that he didnt like the wet performance and I was suggesting a site that actualy gave data not just someones opinion. It is rare that anyone ever gets to test 2 different tires back to back when they are new. If you like the KO2's that is great, the OP didnt and I was just trying to be helpful.

I don't at all object to the OP's POV or what you posted.

I do not agree with one word: "SUCK". In my world this means "REALLY BAD". I think the video DOES clear this up, so thanks for post TR vids. The KO2's are NOT really bad in rain and frankly they are GOOD in snow and slush and even ice.

I think we also could bring up OLD pre 2018 or so KO2 and the NEW 2019+ KO2 tires. They did change.

We’ll IMO since trucks are lighter in the rear with empty beds, is expected to break traction here and there when pushed in extreme weather. I remember like probably some of us here, when we started driving we were our own traction control system and we knew better than to push the car too far. :burnrubber:
But it was a lot of fun when we did.

Another vote for the Coopers: Discoverer AT3 4s. Had them for about 25k now, multiple long road trips and finished another 10k road trip in Late Nov. Performance in the rain has been great for an AT. Just now starting to notice they’ll break loose in the wet if I rip it from stop signs with the bed empty. Still not too bad. Hoping to get 45-50k out of them.

Thanks. Not the first I have heard this, that's for sure. Some folks (brother included) would say the compound would get harder. I can't say they changed the compound, or when, some people say this.

I believe there was actually a change when I was looking at replacing them and I could not find any that had the snow flake rating anymore. They were great until they weren't. Slowing down on an off ramp turned into a little more than expected...

I got about 40k out of mine before the dry rot went just too far for me. How are yours shaping up?

For people considering the AT3 4S, I'd consider upsizing. It is just a small tire for it's marked size compared to others out there. My actual speed was about 2mph slower than what was indicated at freeway speed. Have since changed tires my speedometer is much more accurate now. 2mph may be inconsequential in the scheme of life, but it proves a size disparity in the wrong direction when the speedometer used to be dead on.

Bought mine in 2019. Now 2022. Still no suck. And it rains here. But I don't have a ton of miles being retired.

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
KO2s are fine in the rain, if you drive like a dipshit and run your tires at 50 psi with no weight in the bed you could have issues.

Hey Charlie. I commute the winding back roads to OHSU everyday from Beaverton (and partially the freeway getting to said winding roads), and have no problems with my Falken Wildpeaks. No problems heading to Hood or anywhere else, either. Purchased these because a few other TW members said that KO2s are superior for off roading, but the FW are an overall better tire when considering daily driving and off roading. My trusted tire guy says, however, "At that level of tire, you basically just need to pick whichever one looks the best." Doesn't seem like something that should be subjective, imo.
