Probably just a typical dealer error. As for the price, that's what they do!

Tacoma pricing is irrational. Look at the "How much did you pay for your Tacoma" thread. Lots of people get ripped off. You included, $33500 is too much for a 2wd taco.

It took lots of shopping around to find mine. Most dealers wanted $40k+ for any 4x4 configuration. Finally found the one I wanted in a dealer hours away, and negotiated just above invoice for a DCLB SR5 4x4. I paid $34,000 all in (including tax and fees), which was cheaper than the lowest dollar any local dealer would configure for me for a DCSB SR 4x4.

LOL...their tag line is "higher standards lower prices."

You gotta love the warranty, 60 days (or 60 miles whichever comes first).

    I spotted a 2016 SR Taco at Carmax being sold as a 2016 SR5 for $27,000.

You gotta really know your stuff when buying a used car.

I paid $30,398 at a Mazda dealership for my '16 SW Sport 4x4 DCLB with OEM trifold tonneau cover, OEM black step bars, towing package, and JBL.

It had only 5,973 miles on it.

I paid 34.5 for the OR with tonneau and nav. But I got them to go 2.5k higher on trade in through negotiations so I walked at a place I felt comfortable about.

A guy at work said he paid almost as much for his used 2014 TRD SPORT 2wd as I did for my new 2917 TRD OR 4wd. I felt really bad for him. But when I was price checking used Toyota Tacomas, I found they are only a few thousand less than a brand new one. They had a Certified Pre-Owned with only 300 miles on it and they were asking only $500 less than a new one. I don't know how much wiggle room there was on the pre-owned one but I was happy with $2700 off sticker that I managed to get. Edit, 2017 not 2917

I paid 34k, out the door for my DCSB SR5 4x4, Tow package, Entune Premium Audio. although I did trade in a 2002 Honda CRV that was on its last leg and was happy for them to take that off my hands. And its still a business, the dealers have to make money to stay in business, right?

I agree. I paid $33500 OTD That included the $3000 Tech with JBL package, Tow package, and tint, mats. Basically, it was $500 over Invoice OTD which at the time was a great price as many were paying MSRP willingly or traveling distances. Most dealers here were not discounting the Tacoma. I got that price from my dealer because it was my third Tacoma from them. I made the offer and they took it. I had an invoice price from another dealer 70 miles away but the Goodwill from my dealership was worth the extra $500. I saved $2000 from MSRP.

Now people are getting great deals as
    1. The truck is in its second year
    2. There are issues with the truck that those in the know won't pay MSRP for
    3. Dealers are willing to discount deeply whereas they were not doing so when released last Fall for most buyers.

Yep because they'll plan to give somebody a couple off of the list price to make it appear they got a "good deal"

The resale on these trucks is vastly overrated in people's minds because they see shit like this. Some uninformed consumer will still pay too much for your old truck.

And here's the kicker they'll be buying a 2016 TURD that YOU knowingly got rid of because it was giving you too many problems. Hah!

I cant fully remember 32400 or 33400 OTD - all fees everything for sport 6spd. It was EXTREMELY similar to a used 2nd Gen with 20000 to 40000mi in my area - hence went new.

Used cars are always marked up at LEAST 15% to 20% over what the dealer has into them... They love people who get scared away by the list price so you mosey over to the new car lot and get bent over there as well. My old man ran car dealerships for 3 decades.
