Great part of the state. Have you tried calling your homeowners insurance?

Just a suggestion, don't go local. Go out of town and go big. You don't want counsel that's part of the local 'club'.

Entitlement and special treatment are real! Probably not the first time he’s had the PD give him a free pass.

That really sucks man. Glad no one was hurt. Good luck with the legal proceedings, I hope those people have deep pockets (probably do since who at 17 gets to drive a brand new car).

My coworkers daughter went through this same scenario. Nothing can be done about no sobriety test given. Her insurance handled everything, including paying for her daughters car & going after the perps insurance for reimbursement.

Your obviously a better man than me. I caught the guy who attempted to vandalize my car several years ago and beat him unconscious while his 3 buddies watched. I was still slamming his head into the pavement on a state route when they finally jumped in and pulled me off. I was parked along the side of the road swimming at a gravel pit and was on my way back up to my car to get more beer when I saw them pull in. They didn't see me until it was to late while they were trying to get into my car. I don't know what I would have done if that was me instead of you with that kid. You did the right thing. Not so sure if it was me.

Kid's a dick, but that ain't your problem. As long as you get paid for the damage he did you have to let it go.

He may have been doing 60 at some point but looking at the damage he didn't impact at anywhere near 60. Not even 1/2 that fast.

we have it on camera, and he admitted everything to the cops (his speed, his texting, and never braking). he lost control on a curve doing 60, hit my truck after his car tried to stop itself and dug into the mud/dirt ahead of our driveway, swung my truck around 90 degrees (it was parked about where his car is in the photos) into the dumpster, then his car kept going and hit my wife's subaru. he backed up 15-20 feet trying to flee but got stuck in the giant mud rut he created when he flew off of the road.

for the record, I have full coverage on everything, but basically I can't move forward because the police didn't give me the report and wouldn't let me exchange information with his mom when she arrived on scene. the whole thing is fishy.

A couple years ago my son had a guy turn in front of him and total his truck. The guy’s insurance tried to lowball me, but I got loud, did my own research and presented them with comps. You can make them get right, but you won’t be able to make them repair the truck if repairs cost more than it’s worth in pristine condition.

It sucks even more that your truck was just sitting in your driveway minding it’s own business….

Might need to go above the town.

NJSP won’t take blatant corruption lightly.

    Although, this is NJ :bananadead:

in the past I had a similar situation: a custom built car with a lot of modifications, including a new motor. insurance lowballed based on "market value" of the original model in "average" condition. I presented them with receipts etc, they gave me a lot more money and let me keep the car. was able to use that money to rebuild it.
