I wouldn't mind an older jeep for a wheeler/rock crawler. That or an old sfa yota truck

What gets under my skin is all the Jeep guys I wheel with or go on 2 or 3 day treks with all trailer there junk to the trail. We went to Big Bend State Park which is about 250 miles one way and my Tacoma with 3'' lift and 32's went more places than all 3 Jeeps hauling alot of there stuff in the back. There were some rocks in a creek bed and the Tacoma went up and over all 3 Jeeps tried it and could only get the front tires over. One of the Jeeps has 4'' lift , front rear lockers and 33'' mud country's. They ended up having to go around it. But the whole time they are bad mouthing the Taco I told them to shut up I'm not the one that trailered my " daily driver" and I drove down here going 80 with the AC on.

I wouldn't mind having to trailor an offroader around that much...ya it would suck, but If I had the diffs welded up etc, then it would probably be worth it. *unless my 4banger can't tow a trailor/jeep whatever*

looks like you got replies similar to what you WOULD receive from this forum had you traded in the yota for a jeep...some would be cool about it and understand...others would grill you for it.

I for one have always thought "to each his own" We all have different tastes and those tastes change with time.

I love my Tacoma and plan on keeping it a long time, but I've never been married to one brand.

Eh. A lot of the people on most Toyota forums would do the same thing if a member traded his truck for a Jeep.

Do whatever makes you happy. As long as your not swapping out for one of those damn Smart cars.

90% of Jeep owners (enthusiasts) have a sense of elitism I have noticed from past expierences. I dont know why. I dig rigged Cherokees but not for a DD. EVER. As far as Wranglers, ask them how that wheelbase works out for them on anything with serious incline or articulation or how good that C clip axles working out with 35's on. Toyotas have thier issues too, just obnoxious when people are so "brand loyal" that they put ignorant elitism in front of common sense.
Jeeps (cherokees/wranglers) can be awesome when built, as any 4wd can become, but they are not at the top of the spectrum of 4wheeling. They are abundant because they are cheap as shit to buy, which is why I would totally pick up an XJ for trails and fun. Cheap to buy, build and maintain.

To each there own I guess. My point is why talk trash when you didn't drive yours there and wheel it and then drive it home. That is what I'm saying they talk about the Jeeps being the dream off-road vehicle but they trailer them everywhere they go just don't be scared and drive it. IMO it is more fun to I guess you could say run what you brung.

    Check Build Thread!!

    AHAHAHAHAHAHA

yea my buddy had a Dakota for 4 years, finally upgraded to a 2010 dodge ram and he's never been happier. I have 3 friends with Rams, they are good trucks but the dakotas seem cheap to me, always have and been in quite a few.

Chrysler products aside, I'll be keeping My 07 X-runner... at least until Lexus comes out with their new supercar. Then I'll have a baby :)
