EDIT/ installed a new window from a 1996 Tacoma and now the window rattles like crazy when rolled down a little bit... does this mean the thief fucked up my weather stripping and now it’s stretched and doesn’t hold tightly anymore?
EDIT again: going to try to adjust the channels tonight. That may tighten it up.
EDIT AGAIN: 1996 window is 1/32" thinner. This methinks is what is creating the rattle. Therefore the part #s are different for different years for a reason.

    2004: 68101-04110
    2003, 2002, 2001: 68101-04070
    2000, 1999, 1998, 1997, 1996: 68101-AD020-83

So this happened today on broad daylight when I was only gone for 30 minutes. Happened in front of my house. Only thing stolen was a radar detector. Don’t really care about that... more pissed about my window, and now I have no time today to replace my starter, fix my seat or redo some furniture.

The part # for a new window is (2004 Tacoma)...68101-04110

There is a 1996 Taco at the local pull a part. Will an older window fit? Which windows fit?

When I look up the fitment by part number only, it says it ONLY fits a 2004, which I don’t believe at all. The part numbers may be different for each year, but I highly doubt the actual part is different, especially for 2001-2004.

Hmm...the glass looks the same from any power window single, ext and double cab. Will wait for more to confirm or flame me.

Called Nashville PD at 1pm. Been sitting outside for 4 hours now. Still haven’t come by. I just want to move my damn truck into the garage since it’s currently windowless, don’t want to leave unattended.

A great time to be a criminal.

Sucks brother. I had a window busted in my regular cab. I would remove the seat on that side and start the long process of removing all the broken glass. Two years later I still find a piece once in awhile. I'm assuming the windows will all be the same at least for power windows since the door is the same part number for all models 96-04.

I voted hanging.. But firing squad would have been my choice. Sends a nice message. That sucks man, I would assume all windows are the same but don't quote me

Absolutely fucking sucks! Sorry to hear that and thieves should hang a little, hands cut off, dunk face in acid, cut off legs, tar and feather, cur off ears then firing squad. too much?

Nothing much to offer but I was picking glass up from an Audi TT I owned for months after. Took a few guns I was transporting to the range...police came right the hell out when they heard that. Got em back, they arrested the punk.

Make sure you clean/vacuum like crazy to clear the track. remove the door panel and vacuum more. I would think the years were interchangeable but just don't know.

    Damn I'm pissed for you!

I think proper punishment would be hands cut off and said hands shoved up the theif's ass. Then thief hung and beaten like a pinata.

I hope the sob(s) is/are caught. Unacceptable behavior.

Sorry to hear that. Did you ever get your driveshaft issue fixed?

I have a passenger side window glass you can have if you pay for shipping.

That is considered theft/vandalism. It is covered under the comprehensive part of car insurance. Why not file a claim with your insurance co. Report the damage to your insurance company and report all stolen items.

Deductible too high. Plus total cost is only about $250 if I have the Safelite people do it

Dude, you fucking rock. What year is it from?

Pretty sure it’s the slip yoke, I need to remove it and grease it. But I did pump with the proper moly fortified grease and it sounds a heck of a lot better.

Yep I know, I’m gonna just do it myself. Vacuuming up all the glass from hidden areas will be the hardest part. Thankfully my tint held together most of it, so it wasn’t quite as big of a mess as it could have been.

I see - I thought you meant you were going to pay Safelite do it, but that was talking about an insurance claim. And glass is a pita to get out of the seat tracks as mentioned above.
