Please do me a favor, I know the chances are slim but please be on the look out for a Pioneer double din touch screen unit model AVH-3400 and a black iPod. Someone broke into my truck last night through the back window and stole them. I know the chances are next to nothing when it comes to getting it back but I would like to try.

Just thought I'd put this up in case someone decides to try and list it in the marketplace. This happened in North Las Vegas.

Keep checking craigslist. My buddy has a bunch of stuff stolen a few years back and found it all on CL and had the cops pick the stuff and the criminal up a few days after the theft. GL!!

On craigslist now. Gave the cops the serial numbers and they're gonna submit them to the pawn shops here so it'll come up as stolen. Just got the truck in July and the stereo in August, not even 2 months old...

This makes me just wanna sit around the side of the house with 12g at night now. Cops even said that if I by chance find it on CL and go to get it, call them and bring a gun. Also, my wife set the alarm on her Wrangler last night before bed just to double check like we always do and this morning her doors were unlocked. It's a soft top though so they probably unzipped it, went through it and saw that nothing was there and then zipped it back up.

Sorry for your loss. I don't what your neighborhood is like but we had a similar issue in our "safe,crime-free" development a few years back, with cars being broken into and "little" stuff being stolen, like radar detectors, laptops, clothing, stereos, etc- cars were never taken. Police told our HOA about the numerous reports of theft and advised us to watch for teenagers- they said when it's smaller stuff, it's teenagers taking it, not pro thieves.
So we set them up- we installed a security camera, put a laptop on the car seat in plain view, and waited. 2 days later, we had beautiful video of 2 teenagers using a flat crowbar to wedge a window down and reach in and take the laptop.
You might want to consider something along those lines- if both of your vehicles got hit, then the thieves will be back again in your area.

I have a note taped to the top of my deck (just for fun)

"This deck has a GPS chip installed, as soon as you apply power I'll find you, hunt you down, and destroy you"

I just hope that it scares someone into smashing the deck to 'cover their asses'.. I'd rather see my deck smashed vs. some asshole enjoying it stole it from me.

Hopefully North Vegas PD is better about following up with it than LVMPD is. I had my moutain bike stolen out of my garage one night when I lived in Spring Valley. I turned in a report to them the next morning when I saw it was gone. They promised that an investigator would be contacting me to follow through with it. That was in 2008. Good thing I gave up waiting for their call.

You might also visit the nearest pawn shops to where it was parked in person. Good luck and I hope you can at least find your stuff if not the bastard that took it.

Police have already submitted the serial number to the pawn shops. I would try the camera thing and set them up but I don't want to risk having them actually break a window this time or have the quality be poor and not be able to make them out.

Thanks man I'll check it out now. I've already accepted the fact that I won't get it back so I threw in the stock JBL radio and once I get a new iPod I'll just get the USA Spec interface and MAYBE get another touch screen later down the road. Yeah it sucks huge dick but being mad and pissed isn't gonna bring them back. I just hope the assholes dropped and broke it as they ran off lol, or installed it on their vehicle and totaled it moments later. On a side note, I downloaded an app to my phone called AlertID and it shows all the crime in your area...there were 2 auto break ins and 1 auto theft within 2 miles of me for the month of October. Sucks cause this is suppose to be one of THE nicest neighborhoods in North Las Vegas, mainly because of the upscale casino right up the road boosting the cost of living in this area way up.
