I always find it weird when people say "unfortunately I think its totaled"....... If my new truck got plowed into by someone I wouldn't want it back. I bought a brand new truck so I didn't have to drive something that had been slammed into and repaired.

OP hopefully that thing is totaled out for you and you dont get stuck with something hobbled back together. Despite what they will tell you it will never be the same again.

The truck did was it was supposed to do, keep you safe.

Don’t take the first offer and push for totaling. The insurance companies job is to not payout, or limit their payout, your job is to look out for you.

I of course have no clue what insurance rules are in your state. I am not a lawyer, an insurance agent, a hobo who has witnessed a lot of car crashes/caused a lot of car crashes, or Danica.

Did I put in enough caveats?

I heard a news report today that a person caught for a DUII on average drives drunk 200 times before getting caught.

Just a note...when their insurance company calls you and asks " Are you ok ? Are you seeking medical help?"
Never say you're fine. They're not asking cause they're concerned. Get yourself checked up.

Glad you're ok. The truck did its job.

Yeah, that number is probably reasonable. Had a girlfriend once, way back long time ago, and she crashed up driving drunk all the time, never got caught driving drunk, and until the last couple of them, not even found at fault!

They missed the aluminum crash bar, so most of this impact was on the frame and driver-side wheel. Your frame is definitely damaged.

The entire suspension (UCA, LCA, coil) will probably need replaced on the driver's side, along with where they mount on the frame. The grill, bumper, hood, front quarterpanel, the entire front subframe / radiator support area are all damaged too...

This truck should be totaled. I'd be shocked if they came back saying it wasn't. If it's not totaled, get every penny you can from a diminished value claim and trade it in on a new truck, even if you take a loss. This is absolutely not worth saving.

I agree with this with one exception, if its close to being totaled dont let them not total it. There is NO way you should be the one taking a loss on ANYTHING if this wasn't your fault. I'm an insurance adjuster for a living (albeit commercial property not auto) , the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Be a pain in their ass and dont go away. Mail checks back to them if there not what you should be getting. Hang up on them if there not willing to deal with you, one thing they will hate is just having an open unresolved claim. If it drags out more than a couple weeks file a complaint with the insurance commissioner for your state.
