I had that happen once, in my 1986 amc eagle. tried some shade tree mechanics to get it fixed. No such luck. The buckle ended up backwards. I told insurance that I had no idea how that happened and luckily they bought it.

 

Good, that makes me feel better. I'm still pretty worried tho. Won't my resale value plummet if they don't total it? Just what someone needs to see on a carfax..

^ i dunno, some things are better left to the pros. I got one to come out looking ok once, but no matter what they never retract the same.

a lot of key elements and variables that affect the retractability of those bad boys, especially on the taco, because of the clockspring wind up protocols

No I went straight to the 16" tall throttle body spacer and I pinched my exhaust headers closed for maximum back pressure.

 

How is that normal?? I've never EVER seen that before, that must be a manufacturing mistake or something. It won't even be able to protect someone in an accident! I say that truck is a disaster waiting to happen!

Ok, so funny thing, my mom just called she just had the same thing happen, in a freak accident with a field mouse, that ran out infront of her car. I immediately went over to try to fix it before her insurance totaled the car. I decided to go with some tin snips, and a multi-meter. 5 hours later, its backwards, and there is a horrible crease in the belt. I think its fucked.
