Hey Tacoma World. First time poster and just wondering your thoughts. Had a guy in a big F250 slam into my 2019 Tacoma TRD Sport I’ve only had for 6 months and he did a number on it. Think this is totaled? Insurance has been a pain to deal with and it hasn’t been appraised yet, but just wondering your thoughts. I’m hoping can be fixed since I still owe money on it. Any help is appreciated!

Not totaled, just twisted. Good luck getting your truck fixed.

Oof. If the frame is bent, there is certainly a chance it is totaled.

But given the value of used Tacoma’s, I would probably side with not totaled. Should be all cosmetic + some sensors + frame.

    I agree.
If this were 5 years ago.
    I might say, “it’s totaled”.
    Not today though……….

Welcome aboard, albeit with such bad news. Depending on the year, Insurance company will likely call it totaled, though it's not. If the frame is bent the slightest you can have a good A/B shop pull it out, the rest looks like all panels, it can be done but I'd wait and see what the insurance company payout is.

Wife had a rear end incident in a Rav4 4, no understructure damage, all body panels and rear door, they totaled it though it clearly was not. In our case, the payout was the $ remaining on the loan + a few thousand extra, it was worth it to let it go.

Thanks for everyone's help here! I should also add I was not physically hurt from the wreck. Just walked away with some soreness in my back that lasted a couple days. I appreciate the insight on my truck. I guess my only hope is that they do not total the truck since I still owe money on it. And of course the market value is much less than what I paid for it 6 months ago....

Won't matter, see above. That's why banks are really reluctant to do loans for older vehicles, too often if totaled the payout is less than the loan. As above, the payout would be the remaining on the loan and often a little more.
