I'm not going to go so far as to order a new one...but I do find myself wishing I had gone ahead and sprung for the Tech package. Oh well, it's still an awesome truck.

    Yes, yes they do.

It's the ones who are in such a rush for a purdy boy lift that they go el cheapo, because they live in a gotta-have-it-now world, then find it's actually a poor choice that I speak of.

Saw lots of the same in the SoloII world as well. Folks rushing in. Advise given on quality $1500 setups (still 1/2 of a national contender grade setup) but they insist on going with the $800 deal of no name fleabay stuff. For about 6 months, when they realize folks on OE suspension can spank them.

    Expensive lessons these are. :D

In the last 40 years, I have probably bought one ($5) item based on a commercial or advertisement. That, and not wasting money on the lotto has saved me tons of money ... enough to pay cash for the truck I want. I'm going to buy once so I am still doing my research.

Just relocated to San Antonio. Noticed in this state they'll slap a TSS sticker and a "Texas Edition" star on every base Toyota truck.

Just like a friend of mine, he gets calls from the dealer that he can drive a brand new vehicle for the same payment, he takes the bait and does the trade, I can't count how many new vehicles he has had in the 25 years I've known him. His money.

I did the same thing. Bought a 16' TSS only to realize after snooping around here that it's just smoke and mirrors on the TSS. I didn't realize that the OR and Sport versions come with all the extra stuff. The 2 gen's weren't like that. Had it a week then found a black Sport. Haven't looked back since. The kicker was the Tss was more expensive than the Sport. I'm glad I'm not the only one. Thanks for sharing. I was too ashamed to tell the world.

    Update:

While I was "patiently" waiting for the end of January to come and bring with it my '16 TRDOR, the "deal" I was offered started to weigh on me. I'm totally willing to pay the Piper for my impulse, but it was a rather bad deal all things considered. I did ponder doing the CL thing and try to do a bit better. With plenty of time, I decided to just swing by the other local dealer to see what they would offer and might have on-hand or in a coming allocation (I've noticed very few '16s on their lot for the past few weeks). They had nothing I wanted - present or future. They did however offer way way way more for my trade. They wanted the truck for sure. A deal so good, I drove off in this:

I will tell you that after driving the '16 Tacoma for two months, I was pretty disappointed.

Good looking ride. That would have been my second choice. As long as you're happy.
