    Hey guys.
I checked out this single cab tacoma with 120k on it. It’s a little rough, but overall not a bad truck. Just some scratches, cracked tail lights and some other cosmetic issues. I was crawling under the truck and was in disbelief about the very little to no amount of rust! Until I ran into two issues. 1. The power steering pump resivor had over flown, and was coroded with part of it looking damp. 2. The oil filter had some recent oil on it, but some other areas were damp, nothing dripping out but damp. I will attach a photo.
3 owners, one only had it for a few 1000 miles. No accidents on record. What do you think a fair price would be? Opinion about pump resivor and oil leak? Thanks.

Never seen a P/S pump reservoir corrode and leak, that's pretty strange granted I rarely see 4 cylinder Tacoma's of any vintage. For the leak around the filter I suspect someone didn't check to see if the old o-ring came off and fired the new filter onto the old o-ring.

I'm not much good on prices, but 4 banger with oil leaks in multiple area's and in body in not great shape, if it's a 2wd I'd tell them $500.

It’s a sign that the truck was not taken care of properly. I concur, walk away while you can.

I took that chance once with a vw vanagon. Sold it for scrap! Like others said, if the price is cheap enough and have the tools and skill to keep it up then buy it. School ain’t cheap! Good luck!

Low miles but not that cheap I don’t think. Around here in western nc it would still bring that easy

For what I’ve seen, it’s a ok price for here in Illinois.

And I was crawling under the truck for about a hour, never saw any oil drop, and the only place it looked like “new” oil if that makes sence, was on the filter.

These things are like gold in the Midwest ( I know I'm in Indiana) and bring a premium price. I would like to see the "corroded" PS pump, that just don't even sound right. At any rate,if you have a bad feeling about the truck, walk away.

I never took a picture of it, if I check it out today I will. It was like it was over filled and boiled over, I’ve never seen anything like it before either. Driving the truck, it felt great. I’m just concerned with the oil issue, and don’t want to make a bad choice. I might change the oil and filter, degreese what I can reach, and see what happens.

wouldn't pay a penny over 5k, and thats pushing it. You can find reg cabs for around 10k with much less miles and better years if you re more patient. GL

Do a compression and leakdown test.

If everything is looking good rust wise, and that checks out, other stuff is easy to fix.

But I'd pull the wheels and look at the brakes, manually check the wheel bearings while you are at it.

If you can figure out about what you'd spend to baseline the truck ($1k or more?) ie tune up, all fluids, couple of repairs, that starts getting you a price number.

I'm assuming you can do all the work, having the tools and space needed. Toss someone elses labor into the mix and it starts getting pricey fast.

Thanks. This will be my first compression test I’ve attempted.
