I want a trail rig, and if its cheap enough, I was thinking about grabbing a flooded truck. Would any of the original drive train or electrical be salvageable or will I need to gut everything and start over?

wouldnt touch with a 10ft pole even for a trail rig.

Flooded shit is just asking for gremlins EVERYWHERE ALL the time!

Why's that? Even if I stripped it to the frame, and then rebuilt it back up with a new drivetrain? I'm not looking to buy one for more than 1k.

If worse comes to wear, I could just part it out. The entire thing is in pristine condition despite the flooding. Which could also mean I won't get it. Find out tomorrow.

What kind of flooded (how deep)... is the engine hydrolocked?

I figured I'd have to gut it. And if the engine isn't bad, I might rebuild it. Transmissions however are out of my realm of knowledge. Besides, who needs power anything in a trail rig? :notsure:

As in it was parked during the southern flooding over the past year and sent to auction by insurance.

From the pictures, it doesn't look like any water got into the cab. no sign of water in the gauges. Normally they are full of condensation.

If it was parked??? Maybe a good deal, fix the electrical in it. Pull all connectors and interior, see if they are corroded or not and did truck smell because it wasn't dried properly first just sat on a insurance lot somewhere.

Like over the roof flooded or floor boards flooded? I saw a bad ass bmw that was flooded just enough to get inside the cabin and every electrical sensor was shot. The car was probably well worth buying at the right price just to part out of nothing else.

The interior looks like it was freshly detailed. No signs of any water seepage at all. No staining in the seats or floors. These auctions won't do any extra work to start them, the battery looks corroded, but the entire engine bay looks clean aside from that.

Not without a new battery. Its several states over, this is sight unseen basically, aside from several high res photos. I'm not bidding more than a grand, and the brush guard and hard top would cover my losses already.

Hmmmm, if for a 1000 then yeah, but I seriously doubt it will be that low. Probably more around 8k to 10k

If its sight unseen and 1k or less, do it. Worse case you can strip wheels, brake components, anything salvageable inside (seats and consoles maybe?), exhaust, rear end, and get your money back

Most likely, I'm trying to get something for 1k or less, just weighing the options. I'm more likely to get one that's flooded in that range. Unless I get lucky. I have another on my radar atm, but its definitely not going for my price range. Minor front end collision on it.

Upon closer look, the seatbelts look like they were wet at some point, unless the previous owner was filthy.
