I have a 2002 chevy 2500 diesel crew cab short bed that I am considering trading in on a tacoma, but I wanted some opinions, first double cab or access cab? And second anyone with the standard bed, how do you like it, I use my 6 foot bed now and I am worried if I get the smaller bed I am worried it won't be big enough. Realistically what kind of mpg do you get with a 3inch lift and 33's? My truck now has 35's and still gets 20ish. Just seeing if a tacoma is for me or not, thanks for the feedback.

    DCLB FTW!

Get the long bed, you won't regret it, unless you wheel alot and need a shorter wheel base. Really depends on what you use the truck for.

I can't comment on lift and MPG, but I am completely stock and regularly get 22MPG. I would expect MPG to be around 17MPG if you lift.

Oh, and welcome to the nut house.

Bilstein/OME Lift, 5th Gen Wheels, BFGs, fun stuff... Had a 3rd Gen, twin turbo'ed it (traded in on a F150 Gen 2 3.5 Ecoboost)
sold my 2004 DCSB 2500 Duramax to get my taco. Didn't use the bed that much but during hunting season, so went with a DCSB taco. I like it, except when pulling a load (which isn't often). If you use the truck for typical running around tasks, you will love it.

As far as mileage... i have 265/75/16s with leveling kit and I average about 17-18 MPGs. Not as good as my diesel, but i dont have to worry about my injectors taking a dump, my turbo-vein error, changing the fuel filter, 4.00 a gallon diesel, plus diesel additive since the government took our additives out.

Don't do it, they're too fun and dependable and you'll spend all your money modding it and improving on perfection :D

I love my DC LB 4x4 SR5. When money allows it'll get a small lift and some new tires but I can't complain about the stocker either.

You are going to love the fit and finish of Tacoma coming from a Chrysler product. This truck is tight. Double cab is roomy for five people. Love the storage under rear seat - has all my jumper cables, spare oil filters, tire air compressor etc. stored there. Truck pulls like a demon. Hauling my boat everywhere.

Well as soon as my truck sells or I get a good enough trade on it, I am gonna be getting an Access cab 4x4 4 banger with 5 spd. I know its not what I was looking at origonally but this will allow me to get a new one and not a used one.
