Hey all brand new to the site so hello everyone. I am currently driving a 98 nissan frontier which has been very good to me through the past 200,000 + hard miles. But im thinking of switching it up this time. My nissan is now going to become my full time trail rig and thinking of buying me a Tacoma. The one i have in mind is a 96 with the v6 engine and 5 speed tranny. The only thing that scares me is that it has 195,000 on it and dont want to jump into a money pit with this thing. The truck seems to be well cared for but you never can tell. so tell me what you think will this truck last a good while or do i need to stay clear of the v6 (heard so many different things.) Thanks all oh and its a ext. cab 4x4 and the price is 7000 so just let me know what you think

the price is steep, shop around and you will find better deals but other than that the truck/engine combo your looking at is a great truck given its maintained somewhat.

That price is very high for the miles. I'd keep shopping. You're on the right path though looking at the Tacomas

The V6 is a good engine. I can't say I'd own a 4cyl Tacoma unless it was free

yeah the price is up there i totally agree with that i'm just not very familiar with the v6 thanks for the input. if i found one for a good price but still higher miles is there anything that i should look for as far as bad signs or anything like that. I know the whole timing belt deal but other than that?
