I too would like a better explanation. I'll put in what I know...the LSD transmits power to the wheel with the most resistance. I don't know if that means you will have your two rear wheels with power to them if you don't have any traction. For instance, I floor it in the rain, do both my rear wheels spin out? The locking is for off-road, snow, rain use only. If you lock it on the dry ground, you will have wheel hop when you go around corners. Both of the rear wheels spin at the exact same speed. When going around corners, the wheels want to spin at different speeds.

The only problems I have had with my 2007 taco is brake squeekage. But, I only have 4,000 miles on it. As far as anything else it is great. Awesome performance. :)

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
it not that the locking is in higher end options, its standard on the offroads. the limited slip is standard on the sports...

You know, I don't know if an LSD can provide power to both wheels at the same time. I don't see why not, but it is made to give the power to the wheel with the most resistance. It is quiet, efficient, and un-noticeable to the driver. It is more for everyday driving.

A Locker (when engaged by the driver) does exactly what you said. It turns both rear wheels at the exact same speed - no matter what. It is really for off-roading only (limited traction situations).

Maybe some one else can answer the question about the LSD giving power to both rear wheels at the same time...

hey guys, my first post here but i can shed some lite on this for u. a limited slip is just what it sounds like. it acts like a locker for the most part. but say for instance u make a turn a right, the locker then applies more power to the outer wheel so the inside one spins less. there for no wheel hop on turns. hope this helps.

    buy the way great site!;)
