Indeed. Gonna be a loooong drive to go get it, but it'll be a nice final hurrah with the Tundra.

I’ve been pondering on making this same move also. I bought my tundra new in 15. Before that I had a 2005 Tacoma and a 2500hd duramax diesel. My Tacoma and tundra have been my favorite vehicles. My tundra is now at 124k miles I love it but I find myself driving a lot more these days and I’m spending a fortune in fuel. That and the fact that I’m not doing anything in my tundra that a Tacoma couldn’t do. Plus a Tacoma would fit in my garage. I dunno know decisions decisions….

When I sell my camper the Tundra will go and I'll be back in a mid size truck the next day hopefully. Not certain it would be the Tacoma.

I am in the same boat but I am coming from a TRX. In the 2 years I had it I did not tow so I don't think I need a full size. I want a taco because at the price point for a pro and my 8k in gas savings I wouldn't feel bad beating on it for a few years.

I don't regret it. If you do downsize, at least upgrade the trim. Gaining features makes the smaller truck much more appealing. I would not have made the move to something that wasn't better equipped. Also, fuel mileage still isn't going to be good in a Tacoma. Buying a new vehicle for MPGs never saves money.

looks nice! How’s the new Tacoma been treating you? Yes I agree buying for mpg is not a reason. But I feel overall it would fit the bill better for my situation.

I love it. The smaller cab is an adjustment, but I am almost not noticing anymore, and it's only been a week.

As someone who dailys a TRX at 8-10mpg on premium I can promise I will save on fuel.

For sure. @MuleyCrazy13 is coming from a Tundra, and that was a direct response to him. However, even going coming from a Tundra, I am saving some fuel. Not enough to justify the cost of a new vehicle, but I am not complaining about it for sure!

Ouch. If you stay stock on a Taco you'll love it. I am lucky and usually beat EPA estimate for fuel economy. I had wheels, tires (only 33.43" but heavy), small lift, skids, and sliders on my Tundra, plus a rack and RTT, and I was still pulling EPA numbers. Before mods I was beating it, so the Taco isn't as much of a fuel saver for me as most.

I don't know how I ended up in this thread, but yeah - I've done the math before on buying a daily for MPGs. Unless you're getting like, 5 in the taco and 50 in the econobox and it only cost a grand, it's not worth it. You factor in the up front cost, taxes, upkeep, etc on getting the better MPG and it comes at a cost. Usually it isn't worth it.

I have skids, sliders, front and rear bumpers, roof rack (so I killed the aero), but stock wheels/lift (and no air baffle thing on the front, I had it for a road trip and it did bupkiss, but I got it free, so it was worth it).

I pull 23mpg on the highway, with all that added weight. City/hwy is pretty much unchanged from factory. Larger wheels (not necessarily heavier, but the diameter) is what kills MPG.

Still a bit early to tell. I've not been driving a ton because I have a short commute. Once it's up to temp little trips into town (speed limits between 35 and 55) it reads 19-21 MPGs on the dash. If it's running colder the same trip is 17-18 MPG. The tundra would post up similar numbers. Difference is, I knew the Tundra was reading accurate to within a 0.1-0.2 margin of error. I don't have enough data from the Taco to have the same confidence. I may be getting better or worse than that. I'm inclined to think it's not as accurate, because phone GPS and radar signs all say I'm going slower than what the speedometer says.
