are you still living at home? if so consider transfering somewhere and kinda "start over" meet new people, do new things. gets your mind off of the ex. just make sure you make good friends that will keep you occupied and just HAVE FUN

i wouldn't give anything for the years i spent in college (even though i wasn't schooling, i was just living the life)

i know how you feel. i just started college too and its not going well, ive already re-arranged my schedule twice and im just not adapting to school life. i sometimes think about going back into the military but at the same time i know how important a college degree is these days. do what you feel is right, there is absolutely nothing wrong with joining the military but do it for the right reasons, not because you had a couple bad days/weeks. and remember that if you do join the military it pretty much sucks for the first year or two and its not gonna be fun til you pick up some rank/experience.

ah.... i understand the problem. i have a few things to say

    1) sorry to hear about your gf. i know it sucks. how long were you guys together? But here's the deal. i've been dumped a couple times, and i can say from experience, the younger you are, the harder it is to deal with. Not to say it gets less painful with age, but for some reason age allows us to deal with things better. My first gf dumped me after 4 years at the rip old age of 21. i quit eating and sleeping, i looked like a holocaust victim and i was always sad. i have been dumped since then. actually i have been dumped by girls i loved much more, but that first one hurt the most. probably both due to age as well as it being the first real gf that dumped me. is this the first serious relationship you've had end? I would wait until you are over the loss of your gf (give it 6 months or so) before you make any big life decisions. it is very possible that life is not as bad as it seems, it just feels that way cause your heartbroken.

    2) I learned a few interesting statistics while going to school for psychology. one that pops out is that the most dangerous driver in the world (statistically) is a pissed off or heartbroken teenager. the emotions (or sometimes lack thereof) will make you do stupid things without thinking while at the same time giving you less of a regard for your own life. this may be one of the reasons you are interested in the military. not that a military career is a stupid choice, but i doubt you are thinking 100% rationally. and being depressed will make you care less about yourself. i cant believe i didn't die after being broken up with. each time i drove my car (then a bmw) like a bat out of hell and seriously contemplated the military multiple times.

    3) yes, you definitely need to get out of the house. i assume you are going to college but living at home? horrible horrible idea! you need your freedom at this point in your life. this is the age where we all learn to be independent and how to shotgun a beer. but seriously, even if you aren't a party animal, you still need to branch out. no wonder you're miserable, i would be too if i were heartbroken AND living with my parents. personally, i did a transfer program, so i did live at home for a couple years after high school, but unlike you i was happy about it. i wasn't ready to leave home yet, plus i didn't have any rules or restrictions living at home. but it sounds like you are ready to leave and the worst thing you can do is stay at home.

    4) the fact that you are an eagle scout means you like a certain level of discipline and order. so if thats the case the military may actually be exactly what you need and if i were you i would give it serious consideration. but i'd think about it long and hard and not make any decisions until you are a little more emotionally grounded and on the road to recovery with your breakup.

sorry its so long but thats my 2 cents.

Don't let your feelings about your breakup allow you to make hasty life changing decisions.

i liked living at home because most of my friends were still around. sounds like you are pretty much on your own at the moment. you definitely need a change.

thats true, a bachelors is the new hs diploma and a masters is the new bachelors. it sucks.

i've never been the type to sleep around. never had a one night stand or anything like that, but what you are saying is dead on! even if you aren't a slut its still awesome cause its like a buffet and you are surrounded by choices

i wouldn't trade my college years for anything. in fact, i would give everything i own, including my tacoma for a few more years of college. of course i could go back but i want to be young and attractive again if i'm gonna be in that environment. so much fun!

nah, there are too many useful associate degrees out there. what they need to do is do away with a couple of these usless BA degrees. like psychology and parks and recreational management

    1. Stay in college without a doubt.
    2. If money is THAT tight I would dare say sell your 2008 Tacoma and buy a $1500 beater car and last but not least stay in college.

ND is right on the money. He said everything I was thinking and then some.

Like him, my university days were some of the best times in my life and some times I wish I could have that back. I made some life long friends there and really developed and matured as a person.

Only question I would have for you is if you considered the trades? I'm not sure the situation in the United States, but up here there is tremendous demand for skilled trades people and they typically do very well (better financially than me for sure).
