Turbos are good for at least 400k in big trucks. You can easily get 200k out of one in a passenger car/truck. Personally I'm driving the Tacoma until I can get an electric pickup that's well tested.

Sure... I care about longevity. That’s one of the reasons I’m on my third Tacoma. But I’m not particularly concerned about breaking any mileage records on a truck. I’m not likely to take a truck past 175,000 to 200,000 miles before I get a new one. I just want it to be reliable (Not perfect) during that life span. With Ford’s eco boost motors that’s reasonable to expect. Now, I’m not likely to buy a Ford as I don’t particularly care for the F150 as a whole. However, if the Tundra was to be introduced with a twin turbo v6 I would take a look after a few years of production should I need or want a 1/2 ton again.

Well it looks like I am going to pull the pin and get the 2021 Tundra Crew Max. Asked on the Tundra site what they actually get for gas mileage since its really feeble on paper. To get the deal I did its gonna come direct from the factory as there is nothing on the lots here locally except the super expensive ones. We will see. May need to take a loan out for gas in the future if prices keep going north but heck I will have saved my head! LOL

Literally every manufacturer was hit by the computer chip shortage. Ford even stopped production on the F150 for about a week or so because of it.

There are a couple. If you take a look at any of the million mile vehicles (particularly those that aren't diesels) you'll see they generally have one thing in common. Long highway miles. 90% of engine wear occurs before the engine is up to operating temperature. Hell, the guy with the 4 cylinder Tacoma with 1.3M+ miles does around 400 miles per day. The Tundra I recall seeing made frequent trips between North Dakota and Alabama (I believe).

As for the turbos, many of the arguments against them are the same ones that came about when diesels started getting turbos. Now you'd be hard pressed to find a diesel without a turbo.

It is possible to have a discussion and disagree with someone without insulting them. Not everyone wants to keep a vehicle for 200k miles btw. I'll probably sell my Tundra before it hits 60k miles.
I own Exxon stock. When oil goes up I make way more $ in stock gains than it costs incrementally to fill my tank! Joking (kinda).

Congrats and enjoy and see you on Tundras.com.

The Ram 1500 is a much more reliable truck than most people think. In particular, their transmissions are much improved over previous generations. I had a Ram 1500 Ecodiesel for 4 years. Overall the truck was great. I had some problems with the EGR on mine. I traded it for a Tacoma more due to how the company handled the problem rather than the truck itself.
It’s also worth mentioning that as far as price goes you typically get more for your money with a Ram.

The Dodge sure has alot of bells and whistled. Still find it odd how the truck still can be had for almost 10K less than its sticker. Toyota's just don't do that and never have. Mife loved the Ram but said the Tundra just FIT better.

Toyota and Honda, to their credit maintain value largely because they don't play the big rebate game. When you can look at a vehicle and they take 10k plus off sticker, before you can start negotiating, it's easy to see why so many people are upside down in short order.
I know they offer some minor rebates, but I don't believe I've ever seen 10k off as a starting point. To me, it just sinks the value of the product. Build a good quality product and price it right. I'll take the Toyota every time.

I am done with full size trucks. I will not ever buy another one. Even though they are roomy and can tow and carry more, they are all but worthless to me when I go on any off road trails, that are not desert. The smaller trucks are so much more nimble and capable off road. I got this taco for doing the same trips that we did with my rubicon and still have a truck to carry stuff from home depot and other places. I got rid of my last full size truck 18 months ago and do not regret it, even though it was a great truck.

I paid right at $10k less than sticker for my Tundra, lol.

Edit: it's really about percentage off MSRP. It's more realistic to get $10k off a $60k truck than a $40k truck.

I dunno... they definitely have incentives and sales. Right now you can buy a Ram (promotional program) at 0% interest for 72 mos. On the other hand, I bought my Tacoma last April at 0% for 60 mos when they were running a similar promotion.

To be fair, Chevrolet's turbo engine in their silverado is a 4 cylinder (unlike Ford's V6's). The current leader for gas engines in half ton pickups for towing capacity is Ford's 3.5L Twin turbo V6

I thought the same but after almost 2 yrs in a 4runner was ready to lose money getting back into a V8 Tundra before extinction. I don't off road that often though.
