I'm thinking about going from my 2015 TRD off-road 4x4 with 5,000 miles to a 2014 trail 4Runner 4x4 with 22,000 miles. Basically an even trade. Thoughts? Pros? Cons? Thanks for the help. image.jpgimage.jpg

It boils down to: Do you need the bed?

If not, the 4Runner is great.

If you do need the bed, don't do it.

One can never have too many light bars.
That 4Runner is better only because it doesn't have Bama plates.:infantry:

I just got a '14 Trail, stock except new off road tires.

I didn't come directly from a Taco, I had a 2012 Taco for a while, sold it, bought an Xterra, had that for 4 months, and then decided I should have gotten what I really wanted all along (the 4Runner); so I traded it in. Luckily I pay a big chunk down on cars so I didn't incur negative equity.

My thoughts are that the 4R is significantly more "quality" than the Taco. It fels more solid, rides great, is very quiet, better on gas (just slightly, but still better), has a lot more amenities and electronic toys, and I'm assuming will be better off road due to wheelbase and weight distribution (and I have an e-locker now), and built in Japan (if that matters to anyone). Like the guy above said, unless you need the bed, I think the 4R is a nicer and more useful vehicle than the Taco.

I still loves me the Tacoma platform but I am open minded enough to recognize a better vehicle.

Best choice I made was going from a '13 Tacoma to a '14 4runner.. my decision was based on the fact that we had a baby and needed more room, but even now I prefer my 4runner over the husband's Tacoma.

Luckily my husband has a '13 Tacoma, so we have the best of both worlds!:D

i was all set saturday evening to drive to a dealer 90mins away and trade out my Tacoma for a 4R. I thought the dealer and I had come to an agreement. He e-mailed me after hours. I responded that I could give him a deposit to hold it. No response. Again, this was after hours. but terms were laid out, trade was figured...all that was needed was money to exchange hands, which is hard to do after hours.

Yesterday morning I email him before opening...nothing...2.5hrs later he responds and says it sold. :censored:

I drive a 2012 tacoma 4x4 sport, previous was a 2003 4 runner sr5, with 160,000 miles it would leave this tacoma turtle sitting for dead. Lucky my girl has a 15 4 runner limited.
