OP, what are your needs? Do you offroad frequently? Kids in the future?
Or do you need a family hauler that can be shared with the wife?

The Tacoma is stylish and aggressive, and is the way to go if you will use the bed or tow often.
The 4Runner will most likely suit your needs better if you never find yourself making use of the bed.

The Tacoma has a little more functionality, but the 4Runner seems to have a better engine (can't speak from experience) and the interior features, feel, and space is hands down better.

I don't use the bed at all and am planning on having kids in the next year or so. I just like having the bed if it is ever needed. My vehicle is what we go everywhere in for whatever reason even though my wife has a Camry so that is playing a part in it. There just seems to be pros and cons to both sides. Talking on here just lets me vent. Haha.

I heart the 3rd gen 4runner almost as much as I heart the 1st gen regular cab Tacoma.

ok, just wondeing, isnthat the OME shocks and such or bilstein? the only reason im asking is because i found a lift like that, but it was a OME/Toytec, thats what it was labeled as. plus what is the backspacing on your rims? not trying to ask to many questions, just trying to onow which route to take. thanks for the input, i appreciate it!!

Sell her Camry for a 4Runner. Problem solved :)

4Runner plus Tacoma equals one awesome driveway.

I have both. Tacoma is nice when I need to haul something or go offroad, but I other than that I 20151019_185647.jpg like the 4runner better personally.

Depends on your needs, really. They're both badass.

Tacoma has more utility. 4Runner is more comfy.

    Both are nice rigs.

Everyone here nailed it - it depends on your needs.

My only concern is the "straight across trade." Sure, it sounds like a good deal right now. If it does work for your family then do it! If not, Tacomas hold more resale value than any other vehicle on the planet. You have a great looking truck that could bring in some cash. Don't wash your equity just because of a straight across trade offer.

Again, if you don't care about the money aspect, make the trade!

What do you all think I could get for my truck realistically? 2015 TRD off-road 4x4. Truck has 3 inch toytec lift, 16 inch method racing mesh wheels, 265/75/16 BFG KO2 tires, vent visors, front bug deflector, "raptor" grill mod, 15 % tint all the way around, and color matched front grille (chrome grill also included). Most mods were done at around 2K miles. Truck just had its 5K service done with 4,800 miles on it.

I think what OP meant by straight trade was that he was going to replace his Tacoma with the 4Runner and sell his truck ASAP, not directly trade his Tacoma for someones 4Runner.

Any mods are only going to add value to the "right" customer. Best bet is just part out whatever aftermarket stuff you can, sell on here or whatnot, and then sell the truck as stock as possible, especially since you only have 5k on it. Most people shy away from modded vehicle additions and rather go for a stock vehicle and then do what they want with it. Just be prepared to not get what you put into it back.

Bottomline is I'd say go with the 4Runner. I'm a diehard 4Runner fan. Currently have an 02 that I learned to drive in highschool in addition to my 2013 Taco.

That very well could be. My fault if I misread it.

One of the best (and favorite!) vehicles I ever owned was a 97 4Runner 4x4 limited. Bought it with 116k on it and it ran like a champ until gas went UP to $1.65/gallon. I sold it because "gas was too expensive." If I had only known........

Personally I second selling the Camry for the 4 Runner, but if that is not an option go for it. 4 Runners make better family vehicles which it seems is the priority here. Buy a 4x8 trailer for Home Depot runs. Good luck with the kids, they sound like absolute hell to me, but I'm young maybe I'll grow up someday.
