Not a 3rd Gen or Tundra, but in 2011 I went from a crew cab F150 to a DCSB Tacoma. I have dogs and do a lot of outdoor activities and I've rarely missed the larger truck. The Tacoma is much better suited to my needs.

Had a 2007 double cab Tundra and now have a 2016 DCSB Tacoma. Love the move. I really don't miss the bigger truck and love how much more maneuverable and park-able the Tacoma is.

Went from a 2014 Ram 2500 Mega Cab 4x4 Diesel Larimie to a 2016 DCLB 4X4 TRD off road.....I was in the same boat, no need for the big truck anymore and had a 1991 access cab Toyota truck in the past. Its different but I'm liking it so far.

Pretty much the same experience as OnceARunner. I drove a 2008 Tundra double cab with 5.7 liter for 7 years (same wheelbase as crew cab). Wonderful truck. It could literally tow the space shuttle as seen on TV. Towed my 5,000 pound boat with ease. It was way, way more truck than my new Tacoma. But I never enjoyed driving it. Too big and bulky. I owned it to haul and tow. I decided to downsize truck and boat due to me not having the energy I once did. I'm happy with my decision but if I was 40 or 50 instead of 60, I'd have a Tundra.

I traded in a 2012 RAM Crew Cab Hemi and I didn't have anything to tow after I sold my sleds and double trailer. I bought a 2015 DCAB Tacoma Pro and love it, a lot better on gas and easier to park. A great option if you are looking to down size.

My biggest dilemma, have a 2012 ram sport crew and with a family and a Great Dane, sleds, 4 wheeler and dirt bike I'm torn on whether I'll miss the room inside the full size, and it's towing capabilities. When all of us go camping the full size sure is nice. Depends on your needs I would say. My 2012 hemi got the same mpg on the highway as the 2012 dclb trd sport I test drove.
I see low 20's in the summer 65 mph

I'm going to be in the same boat. Coming from a 2013 f150 double cab fx4. The truck is probably a little too big for what I need. I only towed once with it. Maybe 7000lbs with the trailer. But I have hauled a bunch of stuff. A few loads near 2k each of cement, shingles, furniture, ect. But I hauled almost a full pallet of shingles and some cement with my frontier, even though it was over the rated limit it was ok (short trip 5 miles) basically everything I need to do I can do with a Tacoma if I get one. The hardest part is my f150 is pretty much fully loaded. Going to the Tacoma might feel a little like a down grade, but it can't be that bad, it's a brand new truck. As long as I get a loaded sport or OR there shouldn't be a huge difference

I have the limited tundra and am shopping for a dcsbor without the tech so no sunroof, heated seats, etc but I honestly never used them I will miss blind spot though I know that.
