I found this truck and I love it, it has everything I need on it and in it. I have a 2.5 gen right now and really love my truck but I'm wanting more. I love the new technology in this 17. The trade is great they're wanting to pay it off and plus a little extra. But I'm having second thoughts on it been with this truck for 3 years. It's done me great. But I get in the 17 and I love everything about it! Wish it had a little more compartments in the front for the driver but that's about it. It has 12k on it and my 12 just hit 110,000. Anyone want to give me a little push pictures of both below and of course I will get new wheels and tires probably next year for the 17 if I got it. Someone help me! Going at 2:30 to talk more!IMG_20180613_131949.jpg IMG_20180613_131949.jpg IMG_20180613_151849.jpg IMG_20180611_100941_619.jpg

Can't let a bunch of random people on a website make or break a decision for you. Best advice you're going to get from here is to make your own decision. Do what YOU feel is right for yourself. No one knows you better than you know yourself.

BUT, for shits and giggles, 3rd GEN all the way ;)

What are the details on that lift? It looks like aftermarket springs and shocks at the very least. I'd be skeptical of it but the fact it's not a spacer lift (assuming this is true) is already a huge step in the right direction.

:rofl::rofl: ^^^ that... with 12K on the ticker - it's officially broken in.

Take for test drive and see if the transmission is suitable for you. I'm guessing its an automatic. They shift weird from what a lot of people say. So test drive with an eye out for shifting characteristics. There's a TSB for it. Have the trans fluid tested - procedure that needs to be done at the dealership if auto. If it all checks out and you like the ride, go for it.
You current ride looks pretty sweet bro, just sayin.

I previously owned a 2015 and now have a 2018. There are things about both that are nice, but overall I liked the '15 better. The 4.0/5-speed was much better on the highway as it didn't downshift nearly as often as the 3.5/6-speed. The 3.5 feels plenty strong off the line and the shifting pattern seems ok, it just struggles to maintain speed unless you're going 70 or so.

That being said I only have about 750 miles on the '18 so maybe it will get better with time.

Keep the 2nd gen for another 5 years, the 2023 Tacoma is going to be really great.

You will be glad you waited.....

I'd have to agree on the buy new or keep your truck argument. You'll love it either way i'd suspect, but I always wonder why someone gives up a vehicle (especially a truck) with so few miles on it? Perhaps they just changed priorities, didn't have the money for it, etc., but in many cases they had a problem or annoyance they couldn't live with and got rid of it.

If you shop around you should be able to get a brand new one in that trim for about $35-36k here in the southeast... Not sure what they are offering you on the used one, but... I also had a number of TSBs and some warranty stuff that had to be done to my early-build 17, most of which seems to have been resolved in the 18s which could be another case for looking new instead of used?

That said, even with the issues I've had to deal with I do love driving this truck FWIW!

This black 3rd gen was bought and he put the lift on it and turned around and came back and trade it for a tundra no other reasons that I know of course the 2012 is a wonderful truck I absolutely love this truck but there are some things that will have to be done to this truck here very very soon after getting hit in the rear and so my decision is just to go forward with newer and I can't go with a brand new one right now 30 is about all I can do payment was for me not to go in the hole but thank you guys so much. But I will get new one day just can't at the moment.
