Howdy all, pondering some UCAs in the next year or so. Anyone have any beta on the SPC units? They kinda fit my budget (next in line after rehear and a winch) and they are made local(?). I’m not doing a lot hard core wheeling, or planning to run the mint anytime soon.
Thinking of going that route or Camburgs, or maybe All Pros. Any input is greatly appreciated

I've seen lots of people stuck on trails due to SPC UCA failures.

I had SPC arms on my 4runner for 5 years. It worked well for my needs and can't beat the adjustability. They warrantied a couple balljoints due to play. I believe the newer line ups have greasable joints and bushings now.

I've got SPCs installed, and they've been great. No problems at all. Here's my setup -

I ran SPC's for 4 years and beat the piss out of them, never had a single issue besides bushings being squeaky. They were the old style from early 2015 and weren't greasable, however I would imagine the new version is more reliable.

I personally have only seen one set that a guy was running on here that cracked at a weld... The JBA ball joint UCA's also have a good reputation on here however I don't know much about whether or not they're as adjustable as the SPC, and I believe they only come in red.

I've seen several times the SPC UCA BJ fall out (snap ring/spiral ring failure?). Never Seen a TC/ICON/DK/CR failure.. I don't think SPC UCA's can handle the abuse the real deal uca's can.

So no not trolling but thanks for assuming

Nah, I wasn't assuming, that's why I asked. It's so easy on the internet to just negate what the guy before you said, without providing any information that supports the statement (and doing so, just to say 'you're wrong', is trolling).

Way better to add the ''why" which is why I asked you to elaborate.

Personally, I've not ever heard of the snap ring failure, so that is a good thing to hear about. The only issues I'd ever heard about with spc's, were the ones mentioned above by @whatstcp ... And those were years ago, so not generally worth worrying about with the purchase of new spcs.

Have you seen anyone post on TW, or somewhere else about this snap ring failure?

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

    Calling bullshit.

I've run SPC for a couple years no issues. Know people who've run SPC for longer... no issues.

If that snap ring fails, it's 100% installation error.

I've seen the uniball fail on all those "real deal" UCAs you mention (due to lack of maintenance)

SPCs should be a really good fit for what you are trying to do. The fact that they have some adjustability is a bonus... the uniball UCAs are not adjustable. Also the fact that they have an actual ball joint (not uniball) is a plus as well. The booted ball joint will stay quieter and requires less maintenance than uniball.

Well you fückers talked me into it, I’ve been debating on replacing my total chaos with SPC for awhile now and with the deal on Amazon I just couldn’t pass it up. Besides with the moisture up here in the Pacific Northwest I was about to replace my uniballs for a second time in less than 2 years. My opinion uniballs are better for desert/dry climates.

Been running mine for 3 years now on countless trails and no issues. I know several others without any issues too.

SPC had a known issue with the bushing part of the UCA cracking/failing several years ago but that has long since been remedied. Don't buy SPCs that are 4 - 5 years old and it won't be a problem

SPCs is what I'd recommend or JBAs...SPCs have more adjustability though if that's your thing

Stay away from uniball UCAs unless you're building a go fast offroad truck...uniballs require more maintenance and tend to make a lot more noise. But they're very strong. Balljoint UCAs like SPC and JBA offer better articulation and need less maintenance.

If youre building a race truck then noisy parts are part of life and the strength of a uniball UCA is more ideal

I had to replace my bushings on my SPC UCA'S to the newer ones and now I have no issues! It's nice being able to get the specs I want on my alignments.

I’ve run SPC for 6 years or so now with no issues. Granted, my truck is not a trail truck, but it has seen its share of abuse.

customer service has been great the two times I’ve had to call. They even sent me new ‘keys’ that the ball joint fits into to adjust the caster/camber free of charge after an alignment shop messed up a brand new set of ball joints.

Might be a little late but you should check directly with SPC customer service about potential warranty issues with an Amazon product purchase. I seem to recall reading somewhere that unless they were coming straight from an authorized retailer (example: @Wheeler's Off-Road Inc, @HeadStrong Off-Road, http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/, etc.) they wouldn't honor the warranty. It might have been eBay instead of Amazon - I don't recall specifically.

SPC has has awesome customer service, you don't want to loose out because they aren't authorized. Call them to confirm your Amazon purchase is

After excessive research and deliberation, I pulled the trigger on some JBAs, I will try to get them installed sometime this summer likely during the upcoming re-gear to 4.56s. Gonna be a busy summer it looks like.

Haave beat my SPC's pretty hard and never had issues. They are also one of the best companies for customer service
