I wanted a 4Runner as a second vehicle, wife wanted the evoque. We got the evoque.

Agreed about the apples v oranges thing but OP asked. And it seems to be a common route - a lot of 4R owners came from Tacos. I did. I think the appeal of a truck is that you can do truck shit, except for all the times that you aren't doing truck shit and it becomes a PITA. Enter the 4R with a legit backseat, plenty of storage room, good power, off road prowess, etc. The 4R may as well be the SUV version of the Taco - at least of the 2nd gen Taco with the 4.0.

No one should buy a 2WD 4R ever though, unless it's gonna be a lifetime purchase and that's all you want / need. The resale on those is terrible - no one wants a 2wd SUV.

    THIS

Great resale and takes a beating just like the Taco. No brainer.

I had both 4runners and now have a 2015 Tacoma.

4runners are built better. Interior materials are much much better than the 2nd gen Tacoma. Even the 4th gen 4runner interior is nicer than the 2nd gens.

4runner has a small cargo area and when going camping space gets used up quick. Love the bed of a Tacoma and can put a bunch of dirty items back there.

    Both are great trucks!

Where did you get a deal like that on a 4runner? I'm in NY and the best deal i can get on a 2019 TRD Off Road premium is 38,000. I've been to several dealers and this is the best I can do. There whining and saying were not even making anything so I'm just curious where you got your amazing deal.

I dont trust what most people say on the internet about prices paid. We also dont know what area of the country, if a trade was included, or if it was financed at a high rate, yada yada. Viewing prices in a bubble can make it seem like the price you may pay is too high.

I have to agree, at that price there losing money on the 4runner. I'd love to find a dealer near me that will let me get a 4runner for less than the dealer paid. I'm having a hard time believing this also.

Probably cost a lot more but you can get a new wife and a 4runner.

Hopefully they don't move in the direction of removing the spare! My wife daily drives a CTS-V wagon and the tire blew out a few months ago on the interstate while being 2 hours from home. No spare tire (its a race car I get it GM) but a compressor is worthless when the tire blows. It was a long night.....
No spare tire, but they give you a subwoofer back there instead.

I felt the 4th gen 4Runner interior was actually crappier than my 2nd gen but that’s just me. Not to mention dashboard cracking. Didn’t stop me from buying one tho.

Me? No. I bought my 4th gen used. It’s not a cleaner specific issue, and it’s widespread in 4th gens. Toyota was doing a replacement goodwill campaign that since has ended, but the PO of my vehicle didn’t take advantage of.

Fred Haas Toyota World, Spring, TX. Largest volume dealer in like 5 states. They sell so many cars they can beat anyones deals. They also offered to spec order one just like what we wanted if they couldn't find one at that price. We also got roof rack, running boards, cargo net & cargo cover all included ($1025 if bought from dealership).

The Great State of Texas my friend. I mean for that amount of savings you could fly down and drive it back and still come out on top. Would only take like 4 tanks of gas if you were getting 21mpg hwy.

Another reason Texas is awesome. That is a great price , wowza.
They must move some serious inventory to price their vehicles that low.

My dealer in NY is saying they cant even do 37,500 because there not making anything and any lower than that and there losing money. Crazy what 1 dealer can do and others cant. Let me guess they dont charge vehicle sales taxes either. Here in NY its 8% which is ridiculous.

I had a 2009 4runner for 6 years and I would take that interior over my 2015 Tacoma anyday.

Dashboard and door material on my 09 4runner was soft touch and in my Tacoma it’s hard cheap plastic. Steering wheel was better in the 4runner also. Tacoma can’t compare IMO.

Maybe it’s a made in japan vs Mexico thing.

I'm considering making the switch from a taco to a 4runner. I've really enjoyed my time with the truck, but I find myself wanting more interior space and I don't want to add a shell. My 2011 TX Pro DCSB might be listed in the near future.
