    All,
Need some opinions please. I have a 2018 Access Cab, TRD Sport, V6, 4x4 in Blazing Blue w/ 9,000 miles on it that I'm THINKING about selling. It doesn't have the tech package. Just the straight TRD Sport package.

Original MSRP was right at $35K. I've added an OEM bed mat, TRD pro shift knob, Lopro soft tonneau, replaced the stereo speakers and swapped the hideous OEM sport wheels and tires for 4Runner 17" trail edition wheels and 265/70/17 Cooper Discoverer AT3 tires. I bought the truck in May 2018 so there is over two years of full bumper to bumper warranty left.

I've been checking NADA, KBB, Edmunds etc and they put trade anywhere from $26-29K.

The reason I'm asking opinions is my truck is a MANUAL TRANSMISSION. I've been checking AutoTrader over the past two weeks and there only a handful of manual transmission Access Cabs (new or used) for sale within 500 miles of me (live in Kansas City, MO). I know there are people who would kill for an MT because they love manuals or due to the problems exhibited with the Auto trans.

Thoughts on what I could reasonably expect to get? I'm thinking $30-31K but want to get opinions before posting it.

You should throw out Edmunds as a seller tool, it leans more to being a buyer tool.

You should also not be using the trade in number, you should be using private party.

And if the truck is pristine, you should be using maybe midway between private party and retail.

It would also be useful to ask the loan value of the truck from a local credit union or local bank. Sometimes that's the important number to a buyer, as they have limited down funds. Knowing what they'd have to come up with to secure a loan (assuming they are credit worthy) could be useful info for you to be aware of. For example, as a buyer, I generally try to never pay much over loan. Not that I need one, but that's the 'real' value of the vehicle at that moment, at least in the financial world. I get it that it's worth what someone will pay. I'm just not 'that' someone. ;)

Keep in mind that there is a lot of raving on here over manual transmissions. But it's a niche market, and doesn't mean you'll have a line of buyers. In fact some will never even call because it's not auto.

So unless you just have the right buyer on the right day, it may actually take a bit longer to sell than the auto. Or of course you could be lucky and 3 folks in your town that all want what you have! Or flying in from other parts of the country.

    Good luck with your decision.

This. The reason there are so few MT Tacos is because almost nobody wants them. It's not some rare collectors item. lol

I would price it high and then go from there, you can always go down in price. I think that if yours is the only manual in 500 miles then it actually is valuable. It only takes one person that really, really wants a manual. Plus a lot of times the access cab manual sport TRD has to be ordered and cant be found on the lot in most locations. I have a manual and would pay more for it than I would an auto.

MT's go for less used than an auto in my area..I guess because it excludes people who can't use three pedals.

People on here might kill for a manual. Most of the people looking for these trucks are going to be looking for an automatic.

That being said, I agree with the idea of start high and go down slowly if you decide to sell. The truck has a high resale value, so you should fair very well.

I would put it up on here since this forum seems to like a manual transmission

So you want to sell it and lose money for the sake of helping out some person who’s been looking for one?

    I’m confused

26 sounds about right, 29 is high and that's in perfect flawless condition. My 16 Off road, dual cab with premium and tech and auto on a good day would get me 29. These 3rd gens just aren't holding there values like the 2nd gens. Good luck if you decide to sell.

Here in Oregon a Taco like yours would be listed right around $32K. I’ve seen some used tacos on Craigslist listed higher than what I paid for mine brand new.

Why are you comparing the price of your '16 to his '18?

Starting to realize this after having an 00, 08, 11, 15, 16, 17 and 19. 3rd gens are just so damn popular and in plenty hard to command the same resale. This and typically you wont see too much more of a drop after the first 3 years of ownership which is where you take the biggest hit in equity/resale. Should stabilize from there around 70% of original price/value.

Any time I have put a manual for sale it takes a little longer but someone far away ends up travelling to buy and pays my asking price.

I just dont see these 3rd gens holding the value long term. I traded in a 2013 and that had tons of equity in it. These 3rd gens not so much. As you said the market is flooded with these now and they dont seem to be as desirable as the 2nd gens. I see the Taco getting knocked off of its highest resale value pedestal in the market. I was really disappointed. They were knocking almost 3 grand off of sticker at my local dealerships on these new 2019 third gens.

It really all depends on how long you want to sit on it, price it accordingly. Looks like you're in the ball park.

I looked for a while for an MT that wasn't overpriced. I agree it's a niche market, and in limit supply, but it doesn't warrant a huge premium. I ultimately went East for mine and drove it 2700 mi home. I paid low end kbb while comparable trucks within 500mi we're over kbb, $4-5k more. I personally preferred the drive over paying more.

Keep the manual. You'll regret getting rid of it.

Not as desirable, yet they sell far better than the 2nd gens...fascinating.

In real life, the MT is not desirable. At all. This forum is not indicative of real life. You are going to take a beating no matter what. If you want to trade, trade and take your financial lumps. If the hurt is too big for you, don't do it.

I wouldnt fret about $3k off, as long as it doesnt go above 10% of MSRP they should maintain decent resale value. I mean even the second gens you could get $1.5-3k off. I got $2k off my 2015 TRD Sport new with a $34k MSRP, percentage wise its not too off beat from the 3rd gens, my 19 was a $41k MSRP and got it for $37k.
