The numbers sold were only limited by production. Your answer makes zero sense. So if Toyota had more demand they wouldnt produce more vehicles, and if toyota had less demand they wouldnt cut down on production. Good thinking

Maybe it's regional , but I've helped a couple of buddies find TRD OR this past year and it took them both a few months to get the ones they wanted. One in mgm and the other just in silver

    Right around 32.9 OTD.

I've never had issues selling any of my manual trucks over the years. Id even say ive probably had less tire kickers with my MTs than my ATs :notsure:

Seatbelt Mike also said the 3rd gens wouldn’t be effected with bob problems that the second gens had. He even wagered a steak dinner. Pretty sure there have been plenty of people still having those issues. Changing the angle of the driveshaft helped but didn’t solve all the issues.

Who buys all these damn trucks? When I bought my 2ng, there were like 500 units on the dealers lot between their various locations. Not to mention what was at the dealership I bought from, along with what the other dealers had in stock.

I know all those Tacomas were not sold in Maryland.

That's not surprising, when like 1% of drivers want a manual. If someone doesn't want an MT, it's unlikely they're going to make an offer.

Need to remember this is an enthusiast forum... small percentage of owners. 2016-2019 top resale on kbb... where is the negativity coming from ? Nobody is buying used 3rd gens right now because you can get a brand new one at close to the same price. It’s too early right now.

    You don't say. lol

My point is of course you're going to have fewer people kick the tires on an MT when less people want MT's.

This is something to consider if you live in state that just taxes the difference between trade value and new car price. Trading my wife t4r instead of selling privately saved me about $2700 in taxes to Georgia. Seeing that the dealer gave me the high end in what I researched the trade in value to be, I think I made the right choice. I might have been able to get $3500 more selling on my own, but after the taxes, listing it on websites, dealing with people calling, bailing on meetups, test drives, financing issues, etc, it just wasn't worth it.

Still not really related. You could argue less people would cone out to see it because less people drive manuals these days. But that's really just an on paper statistic. None of my trucks have been listed for more than a week or so before they sold. And actually my 2nd gen auto took the longest. Can't really compare tire kickers if the first ones buy the mt in less time.

    But I digress.

Op you should have no issue selling your truck, but your price is a bit high imo.

Come down to NC to buy, I see your in VA. There are at least 15 3rd gen MT Double cabs here and because of the stoplights every 100 feet, MT's go for 1500-2k less than ATs.

90% of buyers don't want a M/T,or even know how to drive one, so really that's not going to add anything to the sale.Your add ons are not going to get you anything either, better to keep the truck.

In Colorado you have ZERO issues selling a MT Tacoma. Probably would sell faster privately than the thousands of the same model A/T's flooding craigslist and other private party listings.

Now that I'm thinking about when I ordered my M/T, the salesman didn't even ask for my deposit. Guess why? Because that M/T Tacoma would be sold within a couple of days regardless if I were to flake out or buy it. Someone was going to jump on it.

Dealers determine the manufacturer volume of production. Cars, boats, airplanes, guns, underwear and everything in between. Manufacturers don't want to glut dealer lots.....it backfires quickly. Look at the current sedan production vs. SUV debacle. When dealers scream for inventory, manufacturers adjust accordingly and visa versa. When dealers scream stop, layoffs begin and production cuts on the manufacturer end and new product development begins. Demand and supply. Resale value floats with manufacturing production. Think about it; just good business. Now per this thread.....if there was a huge demand for stick shift, there would be a larger volume of production. There is not; however, due to that fact the much smaller niche for stick will create its own thin resale demand. I remember decades ago, stick was standard equipment and auto was an option.....times changed. Look at the ford ranger, I don't think there is a stick option. I don't know if the GM mid size trucks offer stick? I think the OP should wait until his truck is at least 3 years old for value invested; unless $$ loss means less than keeping something he does not enjoy. That of course is his/her business.
