I currently have a 2019 TRD OR with about 41k miles. I love it but coming from an STI Type-RA, I always felt like it was missing something. I haven't done a lot of upgrades to it but I started to realize some of the stuff I missed seemed trivial at first.... but I actually miss it. Like my heated leather seats. I also know that I'm a person that likes knowing any upgraded parts don't mess with the warranty. While I also know that throwing a different suspension on there shouldn't mess with my warranty in any way unless it's directly related, it makes me pretty gun-shy.

I came across a 2017 TRD Pro with 26k miles on it. I went and checked it out and loved it. The dealer is offering me a good deal on my trade and on the Pro. It seems if I switched between the two, I'd be giving up some of the newer tech like auto high beams and the lane control/ crash alert system. Those don't really bother me. Is there anything else I should consider as I make the decision between these two?

The 2017 is in great shape, new tires, etc. I'm really drawn to the fact that it has lower miles even though it's a couple of years older. Just looking for perspectives on anything else I should consider between the two. Thanks!

Follow your heart. Also, less tech less problems.

You can generally get all the things that are on the pro if you have the extra time and cash. Pro is just a fancy trim with different wheels, headlights, tail lights, grille and suspension. All of those can be purchased for any other trim down the road.

if you really dont care about the technology and want more of the flash without having to do it yourself, Pro is a good bet. I have a kid myself and I would much rather take the tech due to safety reasons, but everyone is different.

... if you think you’re missing something with the OR, you’re still going to feel that with the “pro”

As you already mentioned, you will not have TSS. To most, this is a plus.

The transmission TSB(s) may not have been performed but I do believe the TSB is good for much longer than the typical Toyota warranty of 3 years 36k miles.

2017 Pro did not come with a sunroof, again another thing that a lot of people like because there's a little extra head room.

If it's worth it to you, go for it. You'll be happier with your creature comforts over a newer year model.

I guess maybe it's the little touches on the interior that are a bit nicer on the Pro that I missed from the STI. I have two little ones and I spend a lot of time driving between work, school, daycare, etc. The heated seats are sweet and leather's a bit easier to keep clean with all the goldfish crumbs that happen. I'd honestly go back to an STI if the Tacoma didn't fit the rest of my life so well. I'm big into mountain biking and I own my home so the pickup bed is used constantly. I'm also into rock climbing so the gear hauling again comes into play. The idea of having the suspension already done and mostly headache free is also great. My buddies are big into off-roading and I love camping. I haven't hit a trail yet but I intend to. Divorce can put a damper on plans so I've been putting it off. Luckily I'm now way on the other side of that.

I test drove a 2020 Green Pro at the same time and holy crap that thing is beautiful. I'd love the sunroof but that'd be another creature comfort. I'm short as hell so head room isn't a thing for me lol I'll definitely ask about the TSBs for it. It's CPO so I'd hope they took care of it already.

Well, I rarely use mine. Usually only after work when the interior of the truck is +110°F and I want to vent out the heat. Besides that, I never touch it.
And CPO doesn't necessarily mean that the voluntary TSB has been performed. I'd tell the salesman I want it verified if it's on there, and flashed if it's not. Much easier than trying to come back later and convince them. Some places, like here in SE Georgia, are hard to convince that you have issues driving at high altitude. 8 feet above sea level is high altitude here!

Go off-roading with your buddies a few times times, if you end up modifying the Pro suspension, there's no point. You can buy some awfully nice leather heated seat covers,,,,, sounds to me, you're board and want a new toy. I say that respectfully, GL.

You want to trade a 2019 TRD OR for a 2017 TRD Pro.

The dealer is offering you a good trade? I'd hope you'd get money back.

Unless your OR is 2 wheel drive, this sounds like a Friday thread.

Interesting. I’d be tempted due to mileage and leather and uniqueness of pro etc. But, I’m curious on the deal here. I assume since you’d be trading for the pro, you’d be paying $ as well. But I’m not clear which truck should be valued higher??

Trade it. The scoop and the pro grille is worth it alone. Plus then you can tell your friends you have a pro, they will quiver at the sight of the beast.

Do what feels right for you. Look at what you are giving up as opposed to what you are gaining

I’m not going to comment on anything other than I’d drive the hell of it on the highway and make sure the tranny shifts to your liking on that ‘17. Otherwise I can just imagine your next thread after the trade...
