    Hello Tacoma Owners,

I am thinking about selling the 2009 Tacoma and upgrading to a 2016 Tundra. I love my Tacoma but saw the BDS 7" lift for the Tundra and got a chub. What do you guys think?

could do a lift yourself for a much better price than the dealer offers, think that's what he was referring to. possibly better quality as well (not a lift expert but know they jack up the prices for dealer options).

I like a little lift, but 7" on an already-huge truck would be overkill, IMO. What wouldn't be overkill is that sweet TRD supercharger on the Tundra. ;-)

The Tundra Pro is pretty spendy. For an extra $15k that they are asking, you can do a huge amount of mods yourself.

I have a 2nd gen Tundra, but some of the lifts are just ridiculous. I drive my Tacoma 80% of the time. Getting in the Tundra and driving it poses a learning curve every time. I would hate driving a lifted Tundra. Driving a non lifted Tundra is tough enough after driving the sports car like Tacoma.

I love both the Tacoma and Tundra but for different reasons. The Tacoma is great for running around and everyday driving. The Tundra really shines when it comes to towing and driving on trips.

The MPG between the 2 is not that different on the highway. Around town driving, the Tundra drinks the fuel pretty fast.

I got the Tundra then realized how much I missed my Tacoma. I had to go out and find another Tacoma to drive.

I can't vote for one or the other.

Yeah I would definitely not have the dealer do the lift.

This is a true statement, don't want to be one of those guys who gets a 6" lift then adds a 3" body lift to it and lose functionality.

I'm with RL. I think the factory lifts on the Tundra's look a bit excessive. I don't even like the looks of the Pro version.

I like my rides to be pretty standard.

That is what I am afraid of, I did so much to my Tacoma, once I sell it, will I miss it?

My wife has a Tacoma as well. She won't drive the Tundra. She claims its too much truck and hard to see behind. She's right.

The thing is a super pain to park in town. It even has a shorter turning radius than the Tacoma. Odd.

Love my '14 Tundra. Coming from a Tacoma, it's a lot more truck. Great room, power and capability. But the Tacoma is a lot easier to drive if you live in a city, especially once the Tundra is lifted. I did a mild 3" lift and 35's and it looks a lot better than stock, but still has me sometimes wishing for a couple extra inches of lift and 37's.

I came from a Tacoma and absolutely love my Tundra.

    Pro's:
Ton more room. Especially in the back, and if you have children, or are planning on children the Crewmax is a solid option.

Tons of power. If you get the V8, go with the 5.7. For a stock engine, you'll see a HUGE power difference for towing, or that get up and go. It'll have no problems moving 35" tires. I s/c'd mine and now In around 500hp, and 550 torque. (Stock is 381/405)

No more manual slider (double cab) the CM edition has the full rear window that slides up and down

    Cons:
Less wheeling. Now if I want to wheel, I just grab the front seat of a buddy's truck or they let me wheel it.

MPG I'm averging mid 17's mixed. (34.41" tires, 18x9 wheels, lifted) prior to the S/C I was probably around 13-14 IIRC.

What do you need a full-size for?

If you don't, no problem, why do you want a full-size then?

I honestly don't care for huge lifts on full-size trucks. Just not my thing.
They cost a lot of money and really screw with the drivability and functionality of the truck. They can become a lot more dangerous, especially if you get into any high speed accidents. It really limits you in towing. For hauling it really makes the truck hard to load.

Would this lift be for a functional thing you do? Or is this for looks? just curious.

The Tundra is a beast. I didn't need one because it's too much truck for what I realistically need. So it depends what you want it for. It's made to work. If you're just getting groceries and loading up the bed once in a while, keep the Taco. Everything about it is nice though, the brakes are incredible, the get up and go.. Especially with the S/C...
