I worked the 24on 48off shift for 18yrs all while my cats hung out at home. They got used to me being gone and would greet me when I got home.

This is my 21yo, she was a feral kitten that found me one sunday at the fire station. She likes getting high on the back patio (thats catnip).

I saw a sign in a store once, "Dogs have owners, cats have staff" LOL...

If you think you can handle the companionship and responsibility (and your landlord oks it) save the little bugger and prepare for some real fun watching it grow up.

 

Not a cat person myself, but if you dress him up and then take funny pictures with captions, I guess then it would be okay.

Like most living creatures, it depends on the individual animal and the owner. Cats can have a wide variety of personalities. You can also train and condition them to not jump or sit where you dont want them to. They can also come when there name is called. Like dogs, some are more trainable than others. They are also creatures of habit. They like routine.

They can be very social. They will run up and greet you at the end of the day. Some will follow you around all day working around the house, and will want to hang out on the patio with you. They can be similar to dogs, depending on their disposition.

 

How? Well here is an example. We had a storm last night with lightning and thunder and our cat shit and pissed himself and I caught him while he was in the process of eating it back up. He then comes over and rubs against me and I almost threw up. I would never get rid of an animal but I can say I will never get another cat

i have 3 cats and a dog. the cats r cool bc they take care of them selves for the most part and do give a decent amount of affection. but my dog comes on hikes and hangs out in the backyard, both off the leash. cant see the cats doing either of those =/ dogs r alot of work r worth the trouble. cats arent much work but can be moody sometimes

 

Oh geeezzz......my wife has two cats and I am waiting for them to die. They are both anti-social pricks. They dig around in their shit boxes and then walk all over the counter tops. Filthy animals.

 

Training... my cat does not get on the counter top. Put mouse traps upside down on the countertop with newspaper covering them. The cat jumps up, the traps no nuts and scare the crap out of them and you have a cat that will be very apprehensive about getting on the counter again. Not for nothing but usually pets are a reflection of their owners...

 

Maybe they just don't like you .

They are pretty smart that way .

 

Actually, it makes you (1) anti-social, (2) homicidal, (3) mentally disturbed, (4) rude, and a (5) dickhead. I was referring to anti-social cats (common) and waiting for them to die of old age.....comparing that to me dying is sick, rude and hateful. Learn how to distinguish between humans and animals.
