Thinking of buying a 2013 Tacoma. Does this rust seem excessive?

I am looking at a 2013 Tacoma. 22k miles TRD Sport. The body looks good, but when I look under the truck I am concerned. I wasn't expecting this much rust for a Truck w/22k miles. I live in NE Ohio. The truck is at an independent dealer with a good reputation. This seems excessive to me. What are the risks? Dealer is asking $27,000.

I would ask for new tires. The pic in the link shows cracking.

Does the amount of rust and cracking of the tire indicate it has been sitting around outside for a while? Would you buy this truck?

The link below shows some pictures I took.

Shit man, I'd be less concerned about rust and more concerned about price...bought my 2015 sport with 6 miles last year for 31,000...

The frame is what I'd really worry about rusting. And those tires should be replaced if your gonna pay that much. If it were me I'd spring for a 3rd gen if I was buying used @ 27k

I hear ya man...that rust does look pretty bad for that price though. Personally I'd wait until year end and try to buy new

Don't do it. That rust is very questionable. If you're gonna pay $27k, just put a few more grand for peace of mind. Not worth the risk if you ask me.

If you can't afford a few more grand, then just wait for another used deal.

Around here in southeast used were within 5k of new when I was searching for my off road.

That price might not be far off.

I started my search with 2-3 year old trucks with 20-30k miles and that price is par for the course, especially from a dealer. Just spend the extra few thousand and get a new one and know that it is properly taken care of from day 1. Use krown, fluid film, or something when you do too. The rust belt is insanely hard on vehicles, it isn't just Toyota either, everything older than 5 years has serious rust there.

That seems way over priced. As far as rust, look at the arms that go out to the front cab mounts and where the cross pieces meet the frame near the spare tire. Either way, I'm not a buyer at that price.

I'm with everyone else in this thread, look for a leftover 15 on a lot. I paid 28.5 for my base with the convenience package.

    This ^^^^

I only paid $30,096 for my 2012 TRD 4x4 Sport new (I did get a very good deal). $27,000 for a 2013 is a little high.

Regarding the rust, it doesn't look too bad. I have less rust because I crawl under the truck every 6 months or so and hit and rust spots with Rustoleum Rust Reformer.

Not sure why guys are making a big deal of the rust, because it isnt an issue with that truck... but the price is.

The frame is clean with no rust from what I can see. Rusty leafs are not a big deal in the least.

But yeah, used Tacos are expensive thats for sure.
