Darn right they are durable,my 15 looks brand new after 3 plus tears of use.My 06 was spotless also when I sold it,no wear anywhere on the seats or anywhere else.

The biggest upgrade I notice going from 2nd gen to 3rd gen is the seats. They're way more comfortable to me and I don't feel near as fatigued after driving for a couple hours as I did in my 2012. I would have never guessed how bad my 2012 seats were until I sat in my 3rd gen. It's like night and day.

i would still have my 09 if my 14 year old son wasn't almost 6 foot, or I was smart enough to buy a v6, double cab back when I got my 09.

that being said, I love my 17, but wouldn't miss the tech in it. I can add bluetooth for music.

Sorry you are having such buyer's remorse with your Gen3. I hate mine, hate to say it. My 2016 has been to the dealer so many times that I finally found a lemon law lawyer and my truck is in the process of being branded and bought back. I looked around for some really nice 1st gens and then decided I wanted a 1993-1995. But I ultimately ended up buying a new Wrangler Unlimited. This is my 3rd Wrangler (1997, 2004 and now a 2018).

Tech sucks, lights going off every time another vehicle is next to you, including cyclists. A cyclist past me on the left while at a stop light, I had no idea what the he'll was going on. Alarms go off every time you pull close to the vehicle a head to pass. Power seats they're great, when the battery dies and you need to move the seat. Probably many other gripes I've yet to encounter. I haven't yet programmed the presets on the radio, because I don't have the time to bother with it. If the dealer didn't programmed the blue tooth. I wouldn't be using that either. The simple shit is much better IMO

    Sounds like you:
    1. Drive too close
    2. Don’t understand batteries
    3. Bought the wrong truck

I'd be willing to bet that cyclist is happy that tech you hate so much exists. Perhaps the truck is trying to tell you to stop driving like an asshole?

The cyclist was passing in the center turn lane as soon as seconds before the light turned green. Illegal passing on his part, no helmet, no lights either. I also knew he was near by. Tailgating? not as close as the rest of the vehicles on the road, it waz the only way to overtake the vehicle to the right. It was also a car. I rarely pass people in my truck, and seldom pass people in the car. I'm in no hurry over here.

I know how batteries work I was talking about other people's cars when securing the steering wheel. Don't get me started about electronic parking brakes

I might not have the same "safety" package that you have, but I can turn off the parking sensor warning, and the blind-spot warning in my 2017 Sport, Manual Transmission. The only beep I get now is when I shift into reverse.

Not sure you could find a Trd Pro any model/year that’s not overpriced

To the OP: If you don't want to sell, think about the OV Tune (as others here have mentioned), or re-gear to 4.88:1 (especially if you own an Automatic Transmission). Re-gearing will resolve some of your loss of power with those 33-inch tires. If you search around on this forum you will find some threads on the topic. I have talked to 3 or 4 owners who are really happy with the 4.88 gears.

But if you own an auto, I'd think about trading in for a Tundra (the 5.7 is strong, but thirsty), an F-150 (the 3.5 V6 Ecoboost rips, and the 5.0 naturally aspirated V8 is a pretty reliable/proven platform), or a Ram 1500 with the 5.7 Hemi. All of these options have way more power, but they are a whole lot bigger. I'm attached to shifting my own gears, or I'd probably be in one of these trucks.

I feel like the quality of my 3 gen is better then my 2 gen. 2011 sport DCLB vs my new 2018 DCSB OR. Every time I closed the door in my 2gen. It sounded to tiny like it was paper thin or cheep but from what I can tell it’s 90% the same truck. Love the new look and new engine transmission programming is odd when not in ECT on mode, but feels sold. More then my 2 gen. For to different from my made in Japan 07 4Runner V8 sport.

What Tacoma did you buy that has Power Seats? If the battery is dead you won' be needing to make any adjustment to the seat anyway.

Subaru Legacy limited because I wanted the adaptive headlights. That package has all the tech stuff I don't think I need. Power seats are at the bottom of my list of things I want powered. I don't mind power windows and find reverse cameras usfull, but everything else I could live with out. I've never seen the need for power seats.

Glad I didn't get the extra tech stuff, got a 17 Sport manual trans, no alerts cause some one is near, no auto braking, no lane departure stuff. Love the back up cam, hate the entune system.

another option is the ECT "on all the time mod". i felt just like you about my 2016 until i installed the mod and i have forgotten about what you describe in your original post.
