    Folks,

I'm thinking of putting my '13 DCSB TRD Sport up for sale. I'm trying to figure out what I should list it for. Here's the specs

    2013 DCSB Sport 2wd (Auto)

    White - 48K miles

    Factory options:

    • TRD and Tow package
    • Skid Plate
    • TRD Exhaust
    Aftermarket addons:

    • 7 yr/100K platinum extended warranty - $0 deductible (Toyota care)
    • Katzkin leather seats (Dark charcoal with grey stitching)
    • TRS projector with BHLM
    • AMP research side steps
    • Light bar (behind grill)
    • 18” FN Wheels with Hankooks
    • Window visors
    • V1 hardwire

I did some research online for similar (stock) tacos and it was around $26-27K. With all my add-ons, what do you think is a fair price?

    Here are some pics:

    Since it's a short bed, I'll give you $10.

I got my TRD Sport DCLB for $28K w/ 27XXX miles on it (4x4). I think that was a fair deal. Since your's has some add ons but no 4x4 you may get $28K for it. Just have to find the right buyer.

My truck came with the AMP Research Power Steps. I'll never buy another vehicle with them on. So I take my offer down to you have to pay me to take it lol

In my neck of the woods, KBB is showing $25,300 (Good) - $25,800 (Very good) with the add-ons that they consider.

I consider KBB to be kind of inflated, so if I were buying it, I don't think I'd go over that.

Unfortunately, add-ons don't really add value to the vehicle; however, a vehicle is worth whatever someone will pay for it. Put it up for $28k, and maybe someone looking for that exact truck will find it and buy it eventually.

Best bet is to sell stock, get extra money from your mods and get what your trucks worth

Lots of guys go this route. Pull off and sell what you can, and then sell it stock.

Its you best bet regardless of what mods you have, a stock truck will always sell. If I ever head down that road ill be replacing my bedsides, fenders, and flares to get it completely back to stock like nothing ever happened

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
Your mods are not over the top stuff. They are tasteful cosmetic changes that won't be off putting to too many folks.

Can't give specific guidance on the basic truck, that will be somewhat market dependent, and the "Taco Tax" means they are normally a bit higher than KBB and Edmunds allow for. IE their retail numbers might be closer to what you expect to get private party.

As for the mods, if you leave them in place, I'd use a 30-50% adder for the parts cost (not install labor)

Aftermarket parts are a sunk cost, you wont get a dollar back on them if you leave them on the truck. Best bet is taking them off and selling them piece meal.

One dude up above said you can get 28K, well no chance in that. Best case you sell it privately for 25, if you go via a dealer you will get even less, I would guess 23K

Guess 2WD have less value than I thought.
    But rightfully so.

Crazier shit has happened thats for sure. Remember that guy that sold his truck for 1K less then he bought it....and it was like 7 years old! Maybe OP tracks down a similar dumb ass and hits the private sale lottery.

2WD hold the exact same value as a 4WD Tacoma, statistically. However, out of the gate they are cheaper, of course - that's where decreased future value comes in. It doesn't lose value any faster than a 4WD Taco.

That's what I mean is over all they have less value because they were cheaper to start with.

All depends on location. I got offered 27k for a TRADE IN from a ford dealer for my 13 4x4 with 30k miles.

That stated, you get NO money for any mods you have into the truck.

exactly, in some areas where there is more demand for 4x4s they sell faster. Depending on supply you might get a little bit of a premium. Should have sold it before the 16s came out.

On the contrary, 2nd Gens' value have actually gone up since the '16s came out. Especially after the '16 Taco lost truck of the year to their competition - they're not faring as well as they did during the 2nd Gen, which dominated.

I expect 2nd Gen re-sale value continue to rise, especially as clean and well-kept ones get harder to find.

Seems that way. I actually went to the local Toyota dealership this past weekend and noticed they had my truck. 2015 TRD OR 4x4 MGM SB w/9300 miles (mine has about 9700). The window was priced at 34499 for it. I paid ~31800 before taxes for mine new in April

These comments make me realize I got a hell of deal when they gave me $26,500 for my 2013 DCSB Prerunner with 30,000 miles.

This has been pretty common lately.

OP, if you're interested, I'd go into a dealer and just see what they'd give you. I think you may be surprised. Dealers know that they can sell the 2nd Gens for a premium nowadays.
